Old delta blues can be difficult to listen to, sometimes it's a bit raw and harsh. Sometimes people who haven't heard it yet think it's gonna be all smooth bottleneck stuff. It can be something you have to train your ears to appreciate, but when you do, it's very rewarding.

The first time I heard it I was quite pleased and it calmed me. I have ADHD my brain is constantly going and this seemed to calm the thoughts.

It's easy to listen to it......easy to feel the sound and that type of thing ..now understand all of it...whooo....thats not easy in one sitting ...they often were jivin...funnin....speaking slang......now each place has and had ( and it's always changing...) it's own slang as well as words that mean something other than what the literal word means..... esoteric is the fancy word that means "code word" for those in the know....for instance Robert Johnson sang ... Let's go to the end of California... My sweet home .. Chicago..... Well much discussion ha been made of this .. did mr Johnson look at a map.. how could anyone mes that up... A Midwest city on great lake and a state California on the Pacific Ocean.... Well when you learn that one of the great brothels in American history was located in Chicago the same time that song was recorded..called the California hotel or something like that ...it..starts to all add up ....now there are going. To be things said or sing in those tunes....no body cept god and the singer know the exact meaning of. And that's quite alright....neither the dead bluesman nor God....be giving interviews bout it. God bless you all everywhere all of the human race.. ( that's people not a contest)😮😮

White was born in 1906. He survived through the great depression, convicted to a literal chain gang in prison, served in the Navy during WW2 and lived through the civil rights movement. I can't even imagine the things he's seen and experienced. For me, it really irks me to hear the pioneers of blues being attributed to Clapton or Stevie. This was blues and it could have only been born from these times.

@@dariusjackson142 For sure. Lol I posted that comment 9 years ago. And even then I did say he taught him "some things." Which is true based on what BB has claimed. Definitely didn't teach him everything. Like you said, he only met him once or twice. BB learned to play and did all that work on his own. And I'm sorry I offended you.

I love blues and bluegrass - I am a blues singer myself. Several songs I do are labelled "Hillbilly blues" and these very artists are Moon Mullican, Bill Monroe, Hank Williams, Jerry Lee Lewis, and of course Jimmie Rodgers, all of whom made country music into what it is today. All of whom were influenced by people like Bukka White, Blind Boy Fuller, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Blind Blake, or Leroy Carr. Country music without blues music? Rock 'n' roll, bluegrass, Western Swing. All from blues.

The only thing that scares me about wrongly placed negative comments is that if even one person is turned away who could have benifited -was turned off early because he/she thought she was reacting to a well based comment from their peers when infact they are being misdirected by someone who doesnt care to appreciate the scope nessesary to understand musics benifit -it would be a tradagy as big as this music is good.
