On this episode, I head to Lake Tillery to compete in the second event of the 2023 Queen City Kayak Bass Fishing Season: The Yadkin Yolo. This is a multi lake event on the Yadkin River Chain which permits fishing at any public launch on High Rock Lake, Lake Badin, Tuckertown Reservoir, and Lake Tillery.
Being early in the pre-spawn season, I expected the fishing to be fast and furious, but someone probably should have informed the fish…

It got ya rods my man. lol. Congrats on the limit. I am looking to pickup some spinners for the weekend and was thinking about some of the Tru South lures. I have seen a few of the QCKBF crew use them.

I enjoyed the Yolo video. Placing in the 30s out of 120 is a good limit with valuable points earned. The out takes were funny and real world fishing. Catching crappie and catching your rod after the tree limb thief tried to get it,👍

That’s another problem with the multi lake events: I was too far away. I was on the very southern end of tillery and nearly 45 mins away from weigh in. By the time I got off the water, there was no way I could make it in time. I wanted to go, but it wasn’t in the cards.

Nice! Now if I could just finish rehabbing these stupid rental properties which is eating up all of my free time. It’s killing me seeing the weather turn nice like this and I’m inside a dumpy house covered in sheet rock dust. Haha.

I’m doing unexpectedly good this season. I think I’m in 18th overall for the season. Now there’s still plenty of time for me to screw it up, but it’s been my best start to date.

Fished my very first tournament ever yesterday at Badin, first time at badin as well and got skunked. Seems like a lot of people I talked to there at the circle drive boat ramp didn’t do well. It sucked to get skunked but it was really fun to get out there and be apart of it.

You did better than me bud, I didn't get a limit. I went Clarks hill way back up a creek arm. Thier were tons of boats all over & water was very dirty! I didn't see anyone catching anything either!? I thought it was going to be a great day for fishing like you said. Pre spawn, water temps were between 60-63°. Those guys got awesome weights at Clarks hill this past week for the tackle warehouse mlf invitational tournament. I guess I was just in a bad area or to far back the creek arm? It was still a beautiful day & nice to be out in kayak on the water. Of course I'd rather catch more & bigger fish!!! But even a bad day of fishing is still a good day on the water. What place did u end up in your tournament & how many people were in it??

I ended up 36th out of 120. Better than I expected given such a small limit, but still disappointing. On to the next!

@@abidefishing yeap Santee Cooper is awesome! That's where I plan on spending a lot time this year, Learning top end of lake Marion, it has some huge largemouth! It's about hour & 45 minutes from me. Not that close but not to far. Only lived down here about year n half so I've been exploring different fisheries trying to see where I like the best. Hopefully you don't mind fishing around gators. It has some of biggest gators in SC! They don't bother you though just give them distance & they will do the same.
