Directed by Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin who are better known as Radio Silence the filmmaking collective they both are part of "Abigail" gives us the perfect balance between crazy unapologetic horror and surreal comedy gold!
A group of would-be criminals kidnaps the 12-year-old daughter of a powerful underworld figure. Holding her for ransom in an isolated mansion, their plan starts to unravel when they discover their young captive is actually a bloodthirsty vampire.
With a stacked cast starring Melissa Barrera, Dan Stevens, Kathryn Newton, Will Catlett, Kevin Durand, Angus Cloud, Giancarlo Esposito and finally Alisha Weir (who by the way absolutely steals the show). There's plenty of talent to go around and they definitely delivered some memorable performances.
Abigail was such a pleasant surprise and a really fun ride.

So glad you didn't watch the trailer. Idiots at the studio just laid out the entire plot, most of jump scares, most of twists in the trailer. You going unspoiled makes it a unique reaction to Abigail.

It was originally called ‘Dracula’s Daughter’. Honestly if they didn’t show that she was a vampire in the trailer I think calling it Abigail then having that ‘surprise’ reveal would have been freaking awesome 😂

They tried that in an original trailer, not revealing she was a vampire, and showed it to several test audiences and it bombed. No one knew what the movie was about and no one in the test audience wanted to see it When they revealed Abigail was a vampire in a new test trailer and showed it to the same test audiences, it got great reviews then

The “reveal” happened early in the movie and meant absolutely nothing, not even sure why people keep getting worked up about it. It changed absolutely nothing in experience for me. Movie was still pretty good.

No. Her whole tone suddenly became solemn and ominous. In contrast to how she's been behaving previously, it's quite unsettling.

It's an impressive performance for any age. The range of attitudes and emotions she can display, her body language, her changes in facial expression both subtle and extreme, display great talent.

Fun Trivia: Abigail's father Lazaar said he has had many different names over many centuries. This implies that Lazaar is a contemporary name for Dracula.

The funny thing about Matthew Goode showing up in an unexpected role in this film for me was the fact this is the second time he's taken on the role of a vampire; the first being his role as Matthew Clairemont in A Discovery of Witches.

The reason why they told you not to see the trailer first is because sadly the trailer shows you that the girl is a monster and a vampire so not seeing it makes you come into it blind and makes that twist so much more fun as well. Grate reaction guys and glad you liked this movie like I did.

"they" should really learn what to have in a trailer and what not to have. Ridley Scott (director of the original Alien) should really teach a class to up-and-comers about how to make trailers interesting without giving too much away.

@@kingscorpion7346 But there is also the risk of alienating the part of the audience who would not want to watch a gory horror comedy and would rather have wanted to watch a crime movie. It depends on which kind of audience the film is aiming for. The twist happens early enough into the film that it's more part of the set-up so knowing it didn't ruin anything for me.

sadly??? it wasn't suppose to be a secret! it was original called Dracula's daughter. its a reimaging of Dracula's daughter. why would they keep Dracula's daughter out of the trailer? you wanted the trailer to lie to the audience so those who hate horror and wanted a heist movie went to see it and those who have no interest in heist movies but love vampires ignored it?

Kevin Durand, the big, dumb one, is also Proximas Caesar in the new apes movie. He is a very underrated actor. The little girl was absolutely amazing! And Kathryn Newton, the blonde computer hacker, could definitely be one of the best scream queens. She was in Paranormal Activity 4, and was Castiel's (or his meat suit's), daughter on Supernatural.

Kevin Durand has played a wide range of roles in many movies over many years. Most people will recognize him even if they don't know his name. He's one of those talented character actors who never becomes a big star, but is always working.

I wanted to see this mostly for Kathryn Newton (Sammy). I’ve been a huge fan of her since she appeared as a recurring character in Supernatural. She was also in Freaky with Vince Vaughn and Lisa Frankenstein, which was directed by Robin Williams’ daughter Zelda.

If you enjoy a classic horror movie with vibe with a unique twist, I gotta suggest "Cabin In The Woods". Its different enough that some don't even classify it as a horror film, but its got a great cast and is a surprisingly fun movie.

15:50: it’s funny you say that, because the police detective played the lead character in a little-known X-Men tv show called Legion. And while not X-Men, the rich, computer geek is plays Cassie Lang in the MCU, Abigail’s dad played Ozymandias in The Watchmen and Giancarlo Esposito just recently got hired for Captain America 4, but in an unknown role (his wish is to play Magneto and have Denzel Washington play Professor X)

2:57 claire novak from supernatural (which you guys have to check out in your spare time, at least the first 5 seasons) She's very underrated actor. she was really good in detective pikachu aswell. It's also criminal how good of an actress it is playing Abigail, like holy cow. she really did feel like she'd been alive for hundreds of years with her delivery.

This is my favorite film of the year so far. And my favorite movie Radio Silence has done yet. And thats saying something because I am a huge fan of Ready Or Not and love what they did with the two Scream movies they've done. But this is their best work yet in my opinion. I don't watch trailers but I did know going in it was a Dracula's daughter type of movie, I wish I hadn't known that because that reveal is so good! Your reaction was great!

Fun Fact: This movie is actually a remake of the 1930s film “Daughter Of Dracula”, the sequel to Bela Legosi’s Dracula film (the daughter’s name is Abigail). The writers/directors confirmed that Abigail’s father is Dracula (as Lazaar implies he has gone by many names). That also makes this the THIRD Universal Dracula film the past 2 years!

This kid learned the dancing and did all the dance moves herself and she acted several roles in this one. Little innocent kid, adult character and also a vampire character and nailed all of them. Her expressions, voice and body language was just perfection. I think this kid is a rare talent and has a great future ahead of her. Hope Hollywood gives her a chance.

The father at the end is supposed to be Dracula. The big clue was the use of Swain Lake in the soundtrack which was played during the beginning credits in the 1931 Bela Lugosi film.

Some of the lore is very similar to how White Wolf games do vampires. A full blood vampire (Abigail) can create either a ghoul or another vampire, a ghoul has some of the powers of a vampire but is basically under the control of the vampire that made them (Sammy). To become a full blooded vampire you need to be drained of blood and then given vampire blood (Frank), your body then 'dies', basically it purges all the human blood from the body, organs stop etc. This was the same in Interview With A Vampire. This makes sense to me it's not just from a bite, otherwise there would be so many vampires running around!

"He's a gentle giant," I mean... Peter did pull a gun on who he thought was an innocent 12 year old girl he'd helped kidnap, with the intention of beating and/or torturing her. I also believe he was the first one to mention potentially having to kill Abigail after she'd seen Frank's face so even though he had a sweet relationship with Sammy, he wasn't exactly kind & gentle.

If you haven’t, watch the Guest. Do not look into anything about it before. All I’m saying is the guy who plays the cop in this is in it. He was also in Downton Abbey and Beauty and the Beast! So he has a fairly large range!

Great reaction! And I'm so glad you went into this cold with no knowledge of what Abigail really was. The previews just gave it away and I think that the movie would have been a lot more successful if they hadn't. The same filmmakers that produced Abigail also did Ready or Not back in 2019. If you have not seen that one, I highly recommend it. The deaths in this movie are very reminiscent of that one. And it also takes place in a huge creepy mansion.

59:53 We need like a good vampire story where a vampire is a vampire. See Renfield. (2023) It's the most over the top flipping bonkers vampire film I've seen. You could probably call the old Tarantino film From Dusk till Dawn a warm up for it. Jennifer's Body and Jeepers Creepers probably aren't technically vampires but they're a pretty similar new type of unspecified monster. October is in 4 months if you want to schedule these out a bit for a in theme month of reactions.

you didnt need to avoid the trailers. for some reason some people think that the trailer letting us know abigail was a vampire is a spoiler but... its not. this movie is a reimagining of Dracula's daughter, its working title was Dracula's daughter and before that we knew radio silence (the directors) were working on a vampire movie so it wasnt suppose to be a secret.

If you haven't seen "Ready or Not" , then DEFINITELY give it a watch! It's from the same creators, similar vibe and horror-comedy tone, but I think way more well executed and unique concept.

This movie was phenomenal!!! I saw it with a group of friends who wouldn’t stop talking while we were in the living room with the lights on, and even they could take away my enjoyment from this film!!! It was so good!! I wish I saw it in theaters
