Fantastic. I've been using Ableton since summer after 7 years with Fl Studio. I've had 15 tracks signed to various labels so I'm doing well, but I haven't got the first clue about sessions... this tutorial is the first time I've used it. Still don't see how I produce a full track of course, but I've subbed and will follow with great interest.

Can the session view be recorded live. What I mean is as you are clicking between different seen can those events be captured. Can that also be recorded down to the arrangement section.

Another question. I'm new to this. I recorded my guitar and vocals onto one track in ableton. Now can I overdub midi tracks into my tracks in ableton?
@DJCouchKing

Yes. Just create a new MIDI track (Ctrl+Shift+T) and add an instrument from the browser.

@@DJCouchKing so basically drag the abelton file I made and place it into an audio box on an open audio category on session view. And then add different midi categories with selected sounds.

Go into the MIDI preferences and set it up as a control surface. There should be specific instructions on how to do that on Novation's website.

Love your videos and I am learning a lot about Ableton. Just downloaded your project for this tutorial, but No Sound. Everything is there, but nothing plays. If I select sounds in my browser I can preview, so my sound is functioning fine. I am going to try to add the sounds back in so I can follow your tutorial. That should work, but still wanted to ask. Thanks.

I just downloaded the file again to work on your next tutorial. Same thing. I opened the folders and I can play your WAV and AIF sound files on my computer. Ableton is not recognizing/downloading the sounds with the project for some reason. I am very new to this so it may be something that I am not doing.

Hi Alex. Have you ever done a tutorial on how to screen record Ableton with audio? I tried OBS and I couldn’t get the audio to work, ostensibly because I am using ASIO. I noticed that you’re using ASIO for your scarlet interface, so I’m guessing there must be a way to do it. Do you have any tips?
@DJCouchKing
@DJCouchKing 3 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for watching! I actually use an RME UFX interface with my desktop PC. I have an analog loopback from an available stereo output to another open stereo input on the interface. The 2i2 doesn't have enough I/O for this kind of setup.
@horacechincer
@horacechincer 3 жыл бұрын
@@DJCouchKing Analog loopback? Huh. I've never heard of that. Does that mean cables? Or is it a software thing? Sorry. I'm a bit remedial. I want to post my experience with the Jamstik Studio Midi guitar this far (which has been interesting, because I am a verrrrrrrrrrry basic user). But I'll look into RME UFX. Or maybe I'll just record the video, the Ableton session, and external audio and just mix them together in Premiere. Ach. What a headache. XD
@DJCouchKing
@DJCouchKing 3 жыл бұрын
It's using cables, yes. The UFX has 8 in/out. You can do it with any interface that had more than two in/out. OBS will allow you to capture any stereo input from the interface. It doesn't need to be an RME.
@horacechincer

DJ Couch King I’ve got a Scarlett 6i6. Do you think that would work? Man. I can’t believe there’s not an easier way to do this. Would this be something you could help with using onyourfrequency?
@DJCouchKing
@DJCouchKing 3 жыл бұрын
The 6i6 has enough I/O to make it work. You'd just need a short set of TRS 1/4" cables. If you want to book me for a lesson I could definitely help you get that set up!
