I'm really blown away with push 2. It's so mind-blowing (and a bit overwhelming) to see what can be done with it. Such a quality build, obvious a lot of tlc went into designing it. Thank you for this video. Watching this I found those hidden screws and also used a hairdryer to loosen the glue. I was able to have the confidence to take apart and repair my own push 2 after having accidentally thrown a large glass of red wine on it! I cleaned out the wine that was trapped between the carbon layer and the button circuit and it works perfectly again.

@@stanbekker Exactly what I did, worked like a charm. Make sure you don't clean the plastic sheet covering the pad contacts with alcohol though! I had some pads that were desensitized for years, and recently two pads died entirely and didn't respond no matter how hard I hit them. Cleaning the contacts made everything work good as new again. I was surprised that cleaning it actually worked so well.

I've had both push 1 and 2 and they made it a lot harder on the push 2. I've had a lot of issues with the million of sh*t screws they use for the machine. They would strip or get stuck. @@idexmedia I actually didn't use a cleaner at all. I just used a microfiber cloth and wiped off any dust I saw. Which I honestly didn't see much dust. Hey Markus, I've watched this a few times now. Thank you for the video. I've been having issues with the pads on my Push 2. The first time was 3 years ago, where some of the pads we're always conducting. I assumed moisture so I put it under the intake of a box fan for a few days and it resolved itself. A few weeks back this started happening again so I tried the same method, which worked to some extent, but I still see issues. I think my best option is to open it up and clean the carbon sheet and traces. Do you have any recommendations on equipment to do this? My plan was just rubbing alcohol and a microfiber sheet. Wish I got to see close-ups of the back of the panel, and what microcontroller/fpga was controlling it all. Every software sequencer, USB interpretation, MIDI translation, and drawing operation for the screen are handled on a chip running a program somewhere. Would love to know if it's an AVR, ARM, FPGA, or ASIC.

+Michael Hawthorne Hi Michael. I am not sure what processor was under the screen. If I open it up again for any reason I will get some close up images of the main processor chip. Sorry I miss some things out but am learning as i go along. the more video's i make the more I get to know what people want in the video's . Best wishes from Markus.

Hey Mark, thank you for the his video! I had a leak in my room and my ableton push was hit. I saved the push but two things im stuck with. The screen is now blank and doesnt turn on. and I cannot seem to push the push back together. It always feel like something in the top left is stopping from letting me close the case completely. Its been 10 months since ive been able to use my push and its driving me crazy lol did u have any resistance when assembling the push back together?

I had some resistance, but I ended up inverting the play button :')... Make sure you wiggle every button a little bit until the upper frame falls past it. the blank screen is a difficult one to fix I'm afraid, could be a lot of things.

I recently bought a second hand Push 2 and noticed that the sensitivity of the pads was not balanced between the pads. I have already opened and closed it but I am having difficulties in resolving the issue of sensitivity. Any suggestion? Thank you very much.

What is your impression on black rubber button quality/longevity. There seems to be thin rubber coating above clicky button. There is a thread on ableton forum where rubber got scratched by nails and the led light shines through the scratch. Thanks.

+Maris Jukss Hello Maris. I have only had it a short time and have since read about this problem that i was not aware of. at the moment it all seems fine though i will certainly keep an eye on that and hope it does not happen. Thank You for pointing that out to me.

It depends on how you use it. I have used it a lot in and out the studio and the buttons are ok and the rubber is great. Now I'm having problems with some pads near the slide bar I have to press it hard to function. So I'm gonna open it to clean up

@@SudacaBeatz I know that it's been a year ago since you wrote it but how it works? I have the same issue.

@@ilyakarmanov hi. I've never opened it but I have to send it to repair because I'm having the same issue. Some pads are not working.

Thanks for the great video! One question is, were all the screws removed from the bottom before you opened it? Some look like they were left in.
