Alice was my favorite Gladys. What that fabulous lady would do with her face was amazing! Such a wonderful comedic actor!😅

Alice Pearce is by far the best Gladys Kravitz. The fact that she knew she was going to leave us but left us laughing makes her a true Saint of comedy...R.I.P.

I was born in 68 and grew up watching Sandra Gould on the colorized show. It wasn't until I was an adult and watched Bewitched from the black n white beginnings, out of curiosity, and discovered Alice as Gladys and as much as I loved Gould's Gladys, Alice's Gladys depiction possessed alot of heart and kindness and then sadness as by then I learned age died during season 2, it was sad watching her perform as greatly as usual but knowing her number was coming up. 😢 Nice video. 😊

Didn't know she had her own show. She fit Gladys Kravitz to a tee! They were both great, in their own ways.

I was born in 65 and saw Bewitched in reruns. It was one of my favorite shows. I noticed the cast change with Darren. But until just now, i didn't recall the Gladys change. I'll blame that on Gladys not appearing in every episode. But I absolutely loved the character. Ditto with Abner. They were both great in character.
@kevinscott3644Ай бұрын
I'll also share that I have a coworker named Dennis. His 2nd week in, I accidentally called him Daryl. I later apologized, explaining how Endora never called Darren by his actual name. He is also old enough to remember Bewitched reruns and appreciates the mixup, so now I can call him anything. Only problem is that I do it so often I frequently forget his actual name. That's not the fault of TV. It's just me advanced age. But we roll with it.

I think she was the best of the two in Bewitched. I remember her from several old US films/series. For me, with her unique looks, she was perfect for each role, played with comedic skill. I did not realize she had died so young!

Alice Pearce is the best Mrs.kravitz , Steve. I think we all have a little Mrs. Kravitz in us, although most of us would never want to admit it. Every nosy neighbor I’ve ever had ends up being called Mrs kravitz. I guess that’s the highest compliment i could give her!
@DaisnapАй бұрын
I could watch her scene in The Disorderly Orderly a million times. She describes her perforated gall bladder and dripping bile gagging her, her painful broken leg with the bone sticking right through the flesh, etc. all while empath Jerry Lewis is cringing at each horror she describes with great relish to her fellow hospital patients while Jerry wheels her around. It is truly comedy gold. Anyone remember that scene? She was also brilliant talking on a disconnected phone and trying to figure out how 3 boys playing cowboys could all be tied up at the same time on Bewitched. Thank you for posting this wonderful tribute! Her chin was so small because of that childhood accident? I never knew that. Thanks again.

Alice Pearce must have loved doing the show. Instead of vacationing she chose to keep acting. Both Alice Pearce and Sandra Gould were very funny and fantastic as Gladys Kravitz. It is extremely hard for an actor to take over a roll, particularly when the audience is used to and loves the person playing that roll. The recurring characters on Bewitched were all excellent. Many of the actor who played advertising clients made numerous appearances on the show and were also great actors.

She was the best ALICE for sure as she had that scream of horror and knew something funny was going on across the street. Poor mrs Kravitz. Remember her on the phone and then the phone man came in to hook up the phone. She could not believe it. And Sam was swimming in her pool and Alice checked but she saw no pool and that freaked her out. She was great fun.

As hilarious as she was, I actually liked both Gladys Kravitz. Sure can't say the same about Dick Sargent though, the show lost all its magic when poor Dick York could no longer be in it. PS I was 5 years old when this show premiered, sure did love Thursday nights at 8pm in the 1960s! 😊

all my life we've been referring to different nosy neighbors as a Gladys Kravitz, and then when my aunt got older and became a nosy neighbor, I called her Gladys Kravitz (in my mind, not out loud!), and now that I'm older, and look out my window to see what my neighbors are up to, I find I am becoming a Gladys Kravitz. When Bewitched was a first-run series, I recall my Mom making exclaiming references to Alice as _the chinless woman._ Pearce was my favorite Gladys Kravitz, as she was more 'animated' and 'expressive' with the character than Sandra Gould's portrayal. However, Sandra did fine with the character.

In 1966 she played "Olga" in the film "The Opposite Sex". "The Opposite Sex" is a remake of the 1939 comedy film, "The Women". "Olga' was the manicurist who spread the gossip.

Great video Steve. In my opinion, if you would just smile & wink every-so-often after you say: "unless I come to my own sad ending?" It wouldn't be such a downer? BUT, what do I know right? ✌ Btw I liked the second actress better, who played Gladys Kravitz. I wasn't old enough to understand the show, and my parents didn't let us see it without them. I didn't really tune in until season three or four?

I'll think on that Jeff.

I liked Alice Pearce a lot more as Gladys Kravitz. Sandra Gould's version was much meaner I thought, but also funny in her own way.
@jons.6216Ай бұрын
There was a whole different style the two actresses gave the role of Gladys! Alice Pearce was squirrely and Sandra Gould was a bit more mean spirited! If you saw the movie The Opposite Sex where Pearce played Olga the manicurist she had a much rounder figure. I have to wonder if illness was causing her weight loss for many years before Bewitched.
