8:12 hahahaha. Mr Prince, you've got a lot of experience doing these long-form narrations, but if I may still suggest a tip to help with editing: When you make a mistake like that you should give your recording a good 5 seconds of silence before re-reading the sentence and continuing. That way, if you edit by looking at the waveform, you should notice the gap in the recording.

Greetings from western edge of The Pond. I am a veteran, and I tend to prefer for my neighbors to keep their noses well out of my business. (All the younger kids realize I'm a just a big teddy bear. The fangs only come out for those who should know better.) IMHO...this would be a golden opportunity. Just a cheery "Oh, Sorry. They changed my doses. But it shouldn't be a problem normally. " should give your neighbors a good reason to not bother you needlessly.

The guard needs what ever blessing that pistol got. On a side note it’s great hearing something outside of ultra violence space wars, there is a kind of relatability with the characters in this kind of more grounded story even if it’s in the far future. Kinda strange to hear genuinely sympathetic arbite not gonna lie when you first mentioned him I thought he’ll go full “I am the law” mode, and the comparison he made between how arbites have lawful protocols unlike the inquisition is a really nice way to paint the differences between the organizations of the imperium

Its a read between the lines of 40K. Space Marines are supposed to be hardasses but then you get folks like Pedro Kantor and a lot of others who interact with humanity and it turns out for a lot of them its less looking down on mortals and more seeing the scope of what faces the Imperium over hundreds of years of service and realizing with 10000 lifetimes of a Marine it still wouldn't scratch the surface of what would be needed to save the Imperium. Again thinking of the likes of Dante and the angels, Grimnar and the wolves, Vulkan He'Stan and the Salamanders. Its particularly relevant now that we have the perspective of a Primarch on the border of despair in Guilliman as he sees the rotted corpse of the vision his father had and the despair of the burned out and uncaring husk that sits on the golden throne calling him nothing more than a means to an end. All Xenos are evil/to be exterminated but more often than not there is fluff of for the most part if its not a threat the Imperium will generally contain non-agressive species to their homeworlds and leave them be. Even the Tau and Eldar generally aren't sought after for a fight barring a few notable exceptions. Conflict generally stems from Eldar dickery or Tau expansionism directly into what the Imperium deems its territory. Hell given the leeway Rogue Traders are given with xenos official policy despite the fear the alien propaganda seems to be so long as your not into some major wunga-bunga warp nonsense that is going to tear the galaxy a third asshole/you are actively predatory towards humanity our stance is pretty mehhh.... Of course this is not to paint the imperium as some paragon status society but its like most other things shades of grey with more extreme measures for more extreme circumstances. Also most inquisitors aren't completely shoe on head crazy with the exterminatus and HEEEERRREEEESSSYYYY purging. From what I understand of most of the fluff the extreme ones tend to be reigned in fairly quickly as the inquisition tends to be suspicious of its own members as well and likes to keep an eye on them particularly if they are messing with strange xenos psyker tech/warpcraft. They can't actually get away with the whole super purge everything attitude with completely wanton abandon as this would probably result in people outright revolting and murdering anyone who claimed to be an inquisitor because it doesn't matter what kind of authority you claim to have if the people under you recognize that you are positively insane and refuse to carry out your orders after the first three planets get virus bombed out of existance. A single inquisitor would have a hell of a time ordering that virus bombing if the crew of his ship is launching him into the void via the bow torpedo bays. Inquisitor Kryptman had this issue during the Tyrannic Wars as other inquisitors were like GTFO after his response to tyranid incursions appeared to be exterminating every planet in their way including heavily populated worlds and strategically important ones such as hive worlds.

Sandy Mitchell is a damned good writer. I've enjoyed every one of the Ciaphas Cain books immensely, he's especially great at 'voice.' Ciaphas Cain has such a strong voice to him and so does Amberley Vail and all the side characters such as Sulla. You can tell who's perspective it's from easily. He's also very funny, I'm listening to Caves of Ice right now and the minute taker of the meetings between Colonel Kasteen and Broklaw and the civilians, his snark made me laugh out loud on quite a few occasions lol

Very noir. Seems a lot like the kind of story where the narrator sounds like "I told whoever was knocking that I was closed for the night, but then- _she_ walked in.
