The original movie was based on the premise that everyone in the USSR lived in the similar buildings, similar apartments, filled with the similar state-produced items (it wasn't QUITE like that, but works for the purpose of the comedy). I wonder how the same concept will be applied to the American standard cardboard houses.

A similar story happened to me in Trump Village apartment complex in Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York City, U.S. I stayed there at my relatives' apartment, and they lend me their keys. One evening I went back from Manhattan and picked the wrong building. For some reason, the lobby entrance door lock was identical. It was only after I took the elevator to the same floor and noticed another name on the same numbered apartment door when I realized my mistake.

And similar street names, of course! And it wasn't really exaggerated, because you can always find a street named after an important party figure or some communism/internationalism/worker/soviet history stuff in any soviet or even modern russian city.

This is actually a remake of a soviet cult classic 'irony of the fate', i recommend you to watch it. Plus, it seems like the only similar thing between the original and the remake is the reason why heroes met

Why those modern trailers leave you with the feeling that you just watched the whole movie, with no desire to watch the fool movie, even though you seemed quite interested!? People should start making really shorter trailers leaving more questions etc. So that you won't have DEJAVU sense when you watch the whole movie.

I just watched this movie. Reminds me of the romcoms of the early 2000’s that I have been missing. It’s definitely been added to my list of heartwarmingly funny movies. I can see myself watching this at least once a year, around New Year’s Eve.

В данном случае и не пытались переснимать. Взяли лишь начало сюжета и развили отдельную историю. Хотя мне оригинал скучен и раздут... Вот "Служебный роман" переснимать 1в1 в стране оригинала - неприкрытый кризис идей и распил бюджета на культуру России.

Well, as a guest in the cinema field and as a one who hasn't saw the original movie as people claim, i watched it. I like it, i love it. It's a mix between comedy, drama and romance. It's cute, sweet, has a big message to deliver, it did well and made my day.🙃❤️

Actually it was. The original movie is a soviet comedy "Irony of the Fate". It is very popular here in Russia, and on the New Year eve people regularly watch it. Although, judging by the trailer, "About Fate" will hardly get as much recognition

Yeah, it's funny, because since the 90s, almost all Russian films have been adaptations of American films or simply with a stolen plot and very poorly realized. And now, who knows, maybe this is just the first remake of a Soviet film out of many others.

It's interesting to observe how after almost 50 years since the original movie was released in the Soviet Union back in 1975, at last Hollywood has attempted to produce a remake. Even the names are similar - Irony of Fate (original movie) vs About Fate (remake). Anyway, I'd suggest to everyone to watch the original movie, as it's more lyrical and interesting, so you can compare later.

It is a remake of a classic that doesn't require a remake to begin with and directed by a director whose "comedies" receive constantly negative reviews (basically the russian version Seltzer and Friedberg in one person). Based on these facts and the trailer I highly doubt that this movie would be any good and will maybe land up as material for a BadComedian-review.

@@AlexeyTseitlin Лукашин показан человеком, который не пьёт вообще и просто так получилось, что на празднике он перебрал с друзьями, естественно он не так адекватно на алкоголь реагирует. Это во-первых. Во-вторых, Лукашин постоянно сам говорит "надо меньше пить". Это просто высмеивание алкоголиков.

Хуже, чем продолжение Иронии судьбы/Ирония судьбы 2 быть не может. Теперь можно снимать какое-угодно продолжение/повторение/интерпретацию. Главное не снимать актёров первой, кого ещё можно.
