I'll stick to my 75 mm 3-pins. Light, sturdy and versatile. That interchangeable plate for resistance looks like a weak spot in my eyes, how will it snap in place when it's all iced down?
@Rottefella1927 Жыл бұрын
Hi Samuel! We have had some issues with our youtube-channel, so unfortunately this comment did not reach us before now. So sorry about that! 75 mm is a classic! Do let us know if you change your mind and try the Xplore Off-Track binding. We're always interested in hearing what you think. The interchangeable flex works quite well actually. We have not experienced any issues with changing flex, even under icy conditions.

It would be nice to see some tests with these on long-distance skates

Hi Thomas! We have had some issues with our youtube-channel, so unfortunately this comment did not reach us before now. So sorry about that! They have not been tested on skates by us at Rottefella. But we've seen some independent tests and from what we read, the results are quite promising ;-)

@@Rottefella1927 But what if you have some bad twisting crash, you'd want the binding to release in that case.
@Rottefella1927 Жыл бұрын
@davidzof For this type of binding (former 75 mm and BC) release is not standard. Since the boot is only attached to the ski in front of the foot (not the heel), and the boots are a lot softer than a plastic boot, this is normally not a big problem. For the same reason, a stable and reliable release binding is challenging to make.

How do you think these would perform compared to a 3-pin setup on wider skis? Been looking at the Altai Koms, which are pretty wide. They recommend 3-pins for them with T4s or such, but if an Xplore system would work, I like the step in option they offer.
@Rottefella1927 Жыл бұрын
Hi! How wide skis you can use depends on which conditions you want to ski, which shoe model you select and the weight of the ski. If you mainly go outside the groomed tracks in softer snow, a wider and light ski like the one you mention can be used with Xplore. With a ski like that you should select one of the stiffer Xplore shoe models. However, a 3-pin cable binding with T4 will be a stiffer setup, providing more stability in rougher conditions. As of now there is no telemark plastic boot for Xplore.

I think they would be just fine on the Kom. I've seen them mounted on Voile Vector BCs, and I have a pair of Madshus Pano M78s with the Explore binding paired with Madshus' Pano Explorer Boots. Really light and smooth setup.

Why not a similar lock for the heel so you could lock it in if you want?
@cocaina30002 жыл бұрын
Yes, disappointed not to see a heel-lock in these, would be so much more versatile when going down-hill, and more reliable.
@Rottefella1927 Жыл бұрын
Hi Terje! We have had some issues with our youtube-channel, so unfortunately this comment did not reach us before now. So sorry about that! For now, the boots that are compatible with the Xplore Off-Track binding is either synthetic material or leather. Locking the heel would demand boot reinforcement with plastic or similar for it not to collapse.

I'm down...I have 3 pin...but was looking for something lighter...I would guess these would be optimal for somthing from 60-80mm shovel?

Hi! We have had some issues with our youtube-channel, so unfortunately this comment did not reach us before now. So sorry about that! We recommend using Xplore Off-Track with skis that are 60-100 mm wide, but it all depends on what kind of terrain you’ll be using them in.

Can they release if I have a bad crash?
@Rottefella1927 Жыл бұрын
Hi Edvin! We have had some issues with our youtube-channel, so unfortunately this comment did not reach us before now. So sorry about that! As you can see in this movie, you have to push the lever firmly down in order for the binding to release the SpringPins in the boot. We have not had any experiences with it releasing un-intentionally, but of course it depends on how bad the crash is

Stilig, men er det ikke fare for at hullene på bindingen eller springfjæra på støvelen fryser fast hvis det er kaldt og fuktig?
@Rottefella1927 Жыл бұрын
Hei! Sko mekanismen er fylt med et fett som hindrer at den fryser. Går man turer under svært fuktige forhold bør man over tid vedlikeholde mekanismen. Det kan være en gang før sesongen, før en langtur eller ved hyppig bruk 15-20 skidag alt etter hvordan forholdene er. Bindingen er laget slik at den skal dytte ut snø/is som kan danne seg ved hullene.

Hi Chris! So sorry about the late reply, but we have had some issues with our youtube-channel, so unfortunately this comment did not reach us before now. Luckily it has been fixed and we will shortly have a newer and improved channel. Glad to see that Alpina has already responded to your question on our behalf. We're super curious; have you been able to get ahold of and test it? If so, please let us know what you think :)
