कविराज शैलेन्द्र जैसा गीतकार ना कोई दुनिया में था, ना है और ना होगा | दुःख है कि उन्हें क्यों नहीं भारत रत्न मिला | वो इस महान देश की धरोहर है और इसीलिए आज तकरीबन 56 साल बीत गए उन्हें अलविदा कहे हुए पर पर उनके गीत हमेशा अमर है और हमेशा जनमानस की जुबान पर रहते है|| केवल 43 साल की अल्प आयु में उनका निधन हो गया पर वो अपने बेमिसाल गीतों की बदोलत जनमानस के दिलों दिमाग पर राज कर रहे है और करते रहेंगे |

सुना है कि राजकपूर ने आख़िरी शॉट से पहले अपना पूरा मेहनताना वसूलने के लिए शैलेन्द्र को बेहद परेशान किया था। ऐसी संगदिल दोस्ती ! वहीदा रहमान ने भी अपनी पूरी फीस ले कर ही फिल्म की शूटिंग पूरी की थी।

यह वो दौर था जब दलित , मुस्लिम , पिछड़े समाज के लेखको , कलाकारों को सिनेमा में अपनी पहचान और नाम तक बदलना पड़ता था ताकि सामाजिक भेदभाव से बच सके | भारतीय सिनेमा के इतिहास में काल जयी रचना करने वाले शेलेन्द्र जी को कभी कोई बड़ा पुरुस्कार नही मिला , केवल जाति भेद के कारण ,उनका जीवन जातिभेद के साये मे आगे बड़ा और बेहद मुफ्लिशी में ख़त्म हुआ..| शेलेन्द्र जी का नाम था "शंकर दास केसरी लाल "जो बिहार के आरा जिले के धुसपुर गाँव के "धूशी चमार" जाती के थे .. "महान पुरुषो की जाति नहीं होती परन्तु ,किसी न किसी जाति में जन्म अवश्य होता है और सम्पूर्ण समाज को प्रकाशित करते हैं " शेलेन्द्र जी के दलित होने की जानकारी उनके मौत के बाद तब आई जब 2015 में उनके पुत्र " दिनेश शेलेन्द्र जी "ने अपने पिता की याद में उनकी कविता संग्रह "अंदर की आग" में एक भूमिका लिखी .. उनके गीत समाज को दर्पण दिखाते , हसाते , तथा प्रेम करना सिखाते है.. अपने गीतों के माद्यम से आज भी जीवित है..शेलेन्द्र जी शत् शत् नमन..

Ramsingh dev Ji mei bhi apki tarah aur iss desh ke karodon karodon kalapremiyon ki tarah Shailendra Ji ki creations ki wajah se unse behudd pyaar karta hoon. Mujhe aapki tippani se atyant dukh pahuncha hai. Unko kaunsa purskar nhi mila unke sabhi geet hit huwe. Lekin aaj downtrodden ka naam lekar apna jeevan chamkare waale hamare neta, officer, businessmen, professionals wagara uss jaati se aate huwe bhi unhe hi neecha dikhane ki koshish karte hain. Jaise muslim tushtikaran waise hi dalit tushtikaran. Agar aisa na hota toh parliament mei creamy layer ka law apne vishuddh roop mei kabhi ka law ban chuka hota jo asankhya dalit aur dusre vanchit logon ke liye vikas ke raaste khol deta. Khair aapne jo political twist dene ki koshish ki hai apni tippani ko usse aap ant tak siddh na karte huwe ant mei likh kar khud hi apni baat ko kaat dete hain ke unki jaati ko pata unke baad prakisht unki pustak ki bhumika mei unke suputr ne likhi thi. Kya iska arth yeh nhi nikla ki iss pustak ke prakashan se pehle tak unki jaati kisi ko malum nhi thi. Agar apka kehna sahi hota toh Meera Bai kabhi Sant Raidass ki shishya na banti unhone toh apna paitrik vyavsay bhi nhi chhoda tha aur jutte banate rahe jeevan bhar unke waky JAB MUN CHANGA TOH KATHOTI (The wooden water holder in which the leather is mellowed) mei ganga. 👉 शैलेन्द्र की जनम शती आज है. भई ये तो शैल पर्बतपर विराजमान इंद्र ही थे ! ' हम सिंघासन पर जा बैठे ,जब जब करे इरादें ! ' लोगोंके बीच होते हुए भी ये अपना अलग ही लोक बसाये हुए थे ! बिहारी बाबू , पाकिस्तान से यहां आये , 'लाल रंग ' में रंगे थे . वामपंथी साहित्य में रुची . राजकपूर इनकी हुनर और टैलेंट देख जबरदस्ती गीतकार का पजामा पहनाये ! पर ये पजामा फिट और हिट हुआ ! उनके गीत मानो आम इन्सान के मन की बात चुराते थे , पर हाथ की सफाई ऐसी कि पता ही नहीं चलता था ,ये तो अपनाही माल है !

Yes at best it can be called a long story. Shailendra was a regular member of musical team of Bimal Roy Productions, till some misunderstanding happened between them during the making of Bandini, all the songs except one had already been recorded and the last song was done by Gulzar who was then Assistant to Bimal Roy. Bimal Roy had another bright young Bengali boy. His name was Basu Bhattacharya.

I wonder Gulzar Sahb is praising Shailendra as a poet of common man but never ever praised Anand Bakshi as a poet of common people. Shailendra and Anand Bakshi are the only Lyricists who described great emotions in simple words.
