Once we were asked in a form in school about our caste. Only one of the guys in our class, we got to know right then, was OBC. That is when we suddenly became AWARE of caste. Until then, caste was only something we read in our books or heard on television, but nothing to do with our immediate surroundings. It did not even exist in our consciousness. So, my opinion is that, caste awareness and discrimination is promoted by repeatedly asking people about it in various government forms or elsewhere. And it is only a political gimmick which is fed into people's minds in a very subtle and systematic way.

Nothing to do with our immediate surroundings ? Go and check in your surroundings , do your own survey. Find the caste of 100 sweepers in your city . they all belong to the backward classes , infinitesimally small percentage of forward castes will you find doing those jobs. Go to a posh locality in your city , try to trace their caste, again very very small proportion of SC or ST you will find there. and then question to yourself ......why is it so ? is it OK ? and then how can those sweepers kids compete with those rich kids , who have the luxury of different coaching programs. Even your statement shows the Indias position , just open your eyes....In India , the OBCs constitute more than 50 percent , and yet in your class just one OBC.and no SC, ST ? why is it so ?????? I hope you can see in some other angle too. Lets leave the sweepers apart , Im a Hindu , and Im yet to see a dalit pujari in a temple, and Im ashamed of it.

Mandal benefits-> 1. rapid increase in literacy rate from 52% in 1991 to 65% in 2001 , highest decadal growth rate ever. 2. 14% increase in female literacy rate 3. rapid increse in graduates 4. Increase in GDP, per capita income , household savings etc

V P Singh started Mandal to counter Devi Lal, save his government and record his name as champion of social justice. BJP started Kamandal to polarise the nation on communal lines and consolidate Hindu Vote Bank. Congress opposed both Mandal and Kamandal.

This happened a few months after he told people on National Television " Khazana Khaali Hain" ( previous government was bad- may be- that's not the point). I'm thinking about how brilliant the idea is to improve a sinking economy- steroid for economy or breeding ground for civil war or to encourage people to apply their talents to entrepreneurship :-) still, we are still there - mostly happy & smiling :-)

Moving forward only solution is to include poor people in general category into reservation and remove rich reserved category people and those who have already been uplifted from reserved category to general category (otherwise they would keep on taking the seats for reserved candidates and poor SC ST and OBCs who really need reservation would stay in poverty)... initially at least they should start with education.

Reservation system not only present in India but also many countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, usa and also in Australia. Why reservation and how it's apply on population is very big subject. But one thing I told u in India 90% population in reservation than one told me how that system is useless or ruthless when it's help so much population. V p singh done fantastic job of mandal ayog.

Mandal was for govt. jobs not in vidhan sabha so how mandal helped in forming lower caste CM. Anyhow Akhilesh, Lalu, Shivraj, Mayawati didn't get jobs of CM by any quotas. They were already players irrespective of Mandal. They used it for political purposes not for benifit of downtrodden. Now they want reservation in Private sector too as 90% jobs r generated by it

***** Though i don't have a deep knowledge like u but giving reservation to people having strong financial background is of no use n i myself experienced certain exams like JEE,GATE n have seen many gen category people suffering only due to the reservation based on caste. Financial assistance is acceptable but i still cant find the reason behind reservation based on caste in modern india. P.S: I am an IES aspirant n gonna study sociology very soon.

I am of the view that the reserved categories should seek reservation for seats in primary education and not in higher/technical education and govt jobs. As this will not compromise the quality of the various institutions and enable it's efficient functioning. Which is already evident.

After watching such series I realize that saying anything about politicians is very easy. But he who is at the post of PM is under which amount of pressure we can not imagine it. Seing whole of this series Pandit Nehru have became my favorite PM and then Modi. Nehru was the toughest PM of India. He had made some mistakes but he had also done many many many... things for our country.

22% reservations were there even before V P Singh. Nobody is talking about them. Currently generations of certain families in SC/ST communities are usurping the benefit like anything. Best example is Uttam Khobragade (retired IAS officer) and his daughter Devayani Khobragade(She first used reservation seat in medical admissions and then IFS officer). On the other hand some people of the same communities are living in poverty. Also, some people of so called higher casts are living in poverty. Why are they not applying this criterion of income to entire population?

we don't need any reservation for any cast...we need a financial and educational help for poor people...even i skip my all scholarship of minority. And 1 more thing if some people think we do have any other advantage rather than scholarship like reservation in gov exam, we don't have. What do you mean by "we" ? You don't fall under oppressed community ! Neither you are a representative nor your giving up the helps the oppressed class in any way. Notwithstanding you are minority but upper class too , if you have got problem with reservation system , consecrate the people who oppress people on castism grounds and one more request , please don't abjure your scholarship , you need that. In present situation it is very important to understand Mandal commission FAILS in many ways:- 1.Creamy layer should also be implemented in SC/ST. 2.Economic based reservation so that, poor GENERAL also get the benefit of it. 3.No other caste added in OBC because it only divides country and gives promotion to longevity of caste system. But also it is very important to understand that No Modi or Congress going to correct this because we all know they see us as ample of vote bank because After the demolition of babri masjid and mandal commission Indian politics take a great leap from policy politics to vote bank politics. So i must hats off to Mr.Modi who won due to his DEVELOPMENT politics but still he willn't able to give me solution on this. JAI HIND

In India, you can not implement Economic based reservation because you don't have ample data to justify that the particular being is an actual poor or acting as a poor. Also, if you say that we can judge people on the basis of their filing returns, then that would also create a big problem because people then would want to pay less tax just to get themselves into that bracket of economically disabled person. Thus, today when the IT department is linking Aadhaar card with the ITR or for that sake with each and every other thing you purchase with cash or cheque then these all measures are taken keeping in mind that in future the Economically Based reservations can be implemented. Only then the real person who is actually poor and deprived of the advantages will be taken into the account and then it will be The Real India. Sadly today everyone takes care of their vote banks and it is not their fault. The fault is actually of the people who support these parties who in return have never given them anything. How easily do you think these so-called politicians would forget these people after returning to power? And in metros, this trend has at least stopped now to an extent. If you don't work for the betterment then you won't get the next term. But what about Rural India? I don't know why u hat's off to Modi but he is very clever in playing caste card. He will never end reservation note it down. Why he won? Because he divided OBC vote bank .divide and rule formula Bjp will always win till OBC are divided .

@@ShubhamYadav-tx2jx Kar di na anphado jaisi baat, casteism is not legally sanctified and thus can't be "terminated" by some law. Caste based discrimination is anyways illegal and always has been, at least put in some effort before you post some comment online for everyone to see and at least try to see if you are adding to the discussion in any form, posting comments just for the heck of it though in quite a trend recently is plain idiocy.

I don’t agree there should be different colleges or government should give the money for that person and that person should not get reservation at all I lost my SRCC seat I got 97 percent you will never understand my pain and the students who never get admission due to it all should be treated equal after that I done my education from London university it’s so much pain.

To all my general castes friend, Only way to end this evil reservation is to: 1) promote privatization. open start ups Build big business network.In 21st century money is power work hard.Opening&doing business has no reservation.Become economically powerful. Kick govt jobs and look for private owned business.In this country govt sector is more powerful than private sector.But we should work hard to make private sector more powerful than govt sector. 2) Enter deep into the Indian politics.Become most powerful ppl of poltical parties &have the power to change the course of this country & influence every political decision. 3)do inter caste marriages. 4)for the time being do andolan for only one generation use of reservation.

Full of unhidden facts on Mandal Commission in this documentary- 1)It was under the manifesto of Janta Dal to give reservations to the OBCs. Even if Tau Devi Lal or Chandrashekhar would had been PM , they would have to implement the Mandal Commission Report. 2) The whole Cabinet of VP Singh, was having support from range of Socialists who advocated reservation for OBC's since they were followers of Lohia, Nitish Kumar, Ram Vilas Paswan, George Fernandes, Mandu Dandvate and Sharad Yadav were most prominent. 3) Before this Janta Dal gave reservation to OBC's , already socialists in UP under Ram naresh yadav and in Bihar under Karpoori Thakur had given reservation to OBC's becuase socialists like them were one on this issue. 4) VP Singh, not just gave reservation for politics but had general concerns for backwards and also gave Bharat Ratna to Babasaheb Ambedkar which till 1990 not a single government bothered about. So, it was never on the part of VP Singh to play politics but it was the matter of denied representation to the backwards.

Today Bharat is 75 yr old I belong to OBC but today Bharat is mature and it's time to bring UCC and we must finish all kind of reservation...... hard working people are really getting away from what they deserves to be......
