The little German "tank" is the Borgward Demoliton Tank. There is a big steel box positioned at the front of the vehicle...the driver rolls the vehicle up to an enemy position, pulls a release handle dropping the box...which is filled with explosives. The driver would then reverse and the explosives would be detonated remotely.

You're never too old...or young, to get interest! I have been building scale models for a long, long time...and only started working on these 1:1 scale tanks a couple years ago. It is hard work some days....tiring and whatnot, but unbelievably rewarding!

@@5150TRM very cool, I got into machining and fabrication as a side hobby. It must be really rewarding to work on these amazing pieces of machinery. I can't wait to get down to the museum to check them out!

You will love it! We have been volunteering on the weekends as docents even with all the "work" related things we do from time to time. If you're local, and have the time, you can join in. There is a shop inside the museum...lathes...Bridgport and whathaveyou. Always something going on down there. The biggest payoff is getting to actually get all over and inside these things...perks of the volunteer! LOL We have been down there since the June before last...still does not get old seeing these things! Plus, there is more stuff coming.
