@@justice2011 I was being sarcastic My biggest complaint with the wealthy is how they have paid Congress to change the rules to make it legal for them to do illegal things and so when they are called out they say what it’s completely legal…. No it’s not legal just because Congress made it a law still doesn’t make it legal it means Congress was just as corrupt as the billionaires and they should all be in fucking prison or in a grave being eaten by earth worms

I remember when they 1st started building these homes n the early 2000s, they went for $250K. People n the area thought it was too much money 4 Rockaway. They had no clue of the vision. Now many from the area really can't afford it.

Agree. I was looking at property over there to purchase and actually live in. Not anymore especially after seeing this report. These homeowners are triggers; and HPD and HOA should be ashamed for lack of oversight.

I'm the Rockaways but the tax breaks should be justified by all the bad schools around the area. Also, given there's nycha and public housing around the area, it's not worth it.

I lived in Ocean Village, Arverne Houses and Bay Towers when I was in college. I would never purchase a home in the Rockways without significant tax breaks and incentives.

This is a disgrace. Major oversight on HPD’s part. If you can afford said property than you pay your fair share of taxes; and stop being a writer; and HOA going after owners for not trimming their hedges over the fence; but not going owners who are in clear violation such as renting as a Bed & Breakfast; and on AirBnB should be ashamed. I'm hopeful that they can recoup that lost revenue of millions of dollars basically stolen by these “homeowners “.

If tax benefits were conveyed based on adherence two restrictions, then those who are not adhering should lose those tax benefits and possibly be fined further. I an a free market kind of guy who questions the efficacy of government involvement here but ... if there r rules to qualify and folks r not following thise rules there should be implications

Those houses suck i remember when they put them up. If you walk near one of them the walls of the house are so thin that you can hear everything going on inside from the outside ..plus there over priced. And the the houses are near a few nycha housing projects. Lmao Enjoy

Unfortunately, many of the locals did not c the value n this development when it was 1st built. The houses were $250K with an apartment rental @ the top floor. People n the area thought it was too high 4 the area. They had no clue. Fast 4ward, now they really can't afford these homes. It was a really good idea & still is. There r always GREEDY people who mess things up 4 every1.

It's a combination of not being able 2 afford it & not seeing the value n the area. It was weeds & vacant spaces for decades, so I believe they didn't c Rockaway 4 more than that.
