It’s easy for sure but it’s definitely not a strong as the proper way. Might be good enough for pan fish but if you happen to catch that 8 plus pound bass you better start praying it holds up.

I couldn’t agree more on the knot. I have used nothing but this for 10 plus years and have yet to have the knot fail. Crazy how many people will tell you it’s a weak knot

right, i heard it a few times when i decided to switch to the loop knot. Never had one fail on me. But then again we arent trying to catch 200lb fish. It may not be the best salt water knot, who knows!

Ive been crappie fishing(leisurely) for 40 years but never used jigs seriously or even considered it until now. Along with work and caring for my parents over the last 6 years until my mom passed a month ago and dad 3yrs ago, I haven't really been able to hit the water FOR REAL. But now its on, so this was major helpful to me. Thanks for ANOTHER great vid. bro. 👍👍

Ken, I JUST started fishing Crappie for first time in the late summer of 2020 (roughly 6 months experience). I've learned a great deal from videos and buddes teaching me... Up until now I had been using the clinch knot. I love the way you explained the difference in how the two knots present the bait. I've also watched SEVERAL loop knot videos but couldnt really see what was going on when they were tying the knot. You did an awesome job making sure it was a close up for the viewers. I'm trying this knot tomorrow. Cant wait to see how it improves lure presentation and hookset ratio. Great job man, thanks for what you do!

@@HookCityTV so here's a question. so since i posted ive run in to this. when i followed your instructions on the loop knot, my jig is hanging horizontally just as in the video. however when i attached my soft plastic to the jig, im getting that 45° tilt. im using 10 lb hi-Viz mono. Am i doing something wrong thats causing that tilted presentation?

@ericgriffinthefirst

those are good for crappie. good clear demonstration, easy to follow and see. i normall like the crappie knot a little longer 5in.. same knot. but the fisherman knot is going to fail if that trophy bass or big bass, or carp, or mudhead, or big catfish gets on the line and they do sometimes. thise are the fun ones to catch. but when they get off and you reel in that limp line. it will be curley at the ebd where the knot was. vause it slipped and heated or stressed the plastic and made it more curley at the end. if you feed the line back around and through that last hole before you cinch it.,,, it will never slip..... ive lost alot of baby g fish when i forgot or didnt notice i only went 1 time like these..... its valled an improved fishermans knot i think... also moisten before my u cinch.. if you fishing with 4lb test or brittle old line, it doesnt matter much.... line will break before the knot will slip
@HookCityTV
@HookCityTV 4 жыл бұрын
I agree to a point. If you leave enough tag line before cinchinng down the knot will not fail with braid. Trial and error has taught me that one. Thanks for sharing

My two go to knots. The only jig I don't really like using the loop on is a roadrunner cause too many have a gap in the eyelet or maybe it just bends too easy. I've been hung up too many times with one and thought I broke off only to find the loop knot still there, but no jig. It slipped out through that gap somehow.

Hey man, I really enjoyed your video tutorial on tying the loop knot for Crappie jigheads. However there many other so called professional crappie fishermen who recommend the clinch knot for vertical jigging. They said to use loop knot for casting and trolling DC heads. So do you feel that the loop knot is more effective for jigging for crappie?
@HookCityTV
@HookCityTV 3 жыл бұрын
The loop knot allows the jig to sit horizontal or natural. The clinch knot allows that too, AS LONG AS, the knot is positioned correctly a the eyelet
