Donald Trump made a triumphant entrance to cap the first day of the Republican National Convention, receiving a raucous ovation from the party faithful days after surviving an assassination attempt that has reshaped the presidential contest.
The former president walked into the Fiserv Forum in downtown Milwaukee to an uproarious response, his ear heavily bandaged from having been grazed by a bullet, hours after he was officially nominated to be the party's 2024 standard-bearer.
Trump waved from a box where he sat alongside his newly appointed running mate, U.S. Senator J.D. Vance.
Republican strategist Amy Tarkanian joins Talk’s Alex Phillipa to discuss this further.

@@thesaltybrit9321 That's true enough. Countries like Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands and so on have never paid their share. France even refused to join NATO for forty odd years. Just the UK, Poland, Greece and one of the smaller ex Soviet states has always paid their share.

You aren't being unkind at all, just realistic. Too many in Europe think it ok to sit back while others pay out the money. It was one of the main reason folk in the UK voted to leave the EU. They were bleeding us dry.

Agreed which why Britain voted for Brexit so we could choose where our money goes and not be a puppet fir the EU. Unfortunately no one expected Farage to win and Britain never really fully got to leave the EU..Farage disappointed a lot if people buy disappearing after the win and it fell apart. Looking after your own country is paramount I agree. Certainly not Ukraine. You guys could have cleaned the streets 3 times over if it wasn't for this proxy war that American politicians created with backing from the EU countries

We don't need to tell Trump that Ukraine is a US problem, because he already knows who fermented the conflict there and who used it to, amongst other things, undermine his first administration. If, and imho it remains a big if, Trump returns the White House then I hope he will end the war as promised, probably by telling Russia that the US will not admit Ukraine (or Georgia) into NATO, nor move US nukes any closer to Russia's borders, and that certain CIA activities in the region will cease. Europe's problem now is that many of it's leaders have great enthusiasm for a war for which Europe is completely unprepared and unequipped, making it easy for Americans to say "yeah, Europeans fighting again, not our problem", when in reality the road to this war began in Washington DC, and so the road to peace must begin there too.

What these ladies don't understand is that it would be good to have a different voice a different opinion from a loyal person in your administration. But what you don't want is a dissenting indifferent opinion from someone in your circle who is not loyal, which is what happened to Trump in his first administration , I do not think Mike pence was loyal, and there are others undermining him in his own circle the first time around.. People around you with a different take on things is good if they are loyal and want to help your goals.

UK does pay more than its fair share to NATO. I’m in full agreement with president T when he called out all the other countries who don’t pay anywhere near the 2% they’re meant to pay. Why should America & my country of UK fund NATOI, then need to protect their countries when they don’t pay anywhere near their fair share. If they want protection, and to use the money we pay into NATO, they either pay their share!!

Imho, the UK has declined in Carlson's estimation due to his dealings with Boris Johnson, and if they run into each other at the RNC ( (I was amazed to read that Bojo is there) the sparks may fly.
