Many bands get described as "genre defying", but FNM actually is. Not only can Mike Patton sing literally anything (imho the MOST underrated/overlooked singer of all time), but the band can play anything, any style, and always be right in the pocket. They're incredible musicians who don't need to shred to prove it. Unfortunately the first thing anyone ever hears is "Epic", and it's usually the last. "Gentle Art Of Making Enemies", "The Real Thing", "Surprise, You're Dead" and "Star AD" are some of my favorites, but they only scratch the surface of their catalog. They don't have a ton of releases considering how long they've been around, but they're more about quality over quantity. It's sad they've influenced some of the most popular bands out there, but rarely get any love themselves. Also, I loved your reaction to Earthside's latest with Dan and Gennady, and can't wait for the album to drop in a couple days. If you enjoy cinematic music videos with emotional impact like that one, I highly recommend one from the band Blackshape called "ITIIITIATIIHYLIHYL". Good news, it's like 1/3 the length.

If you want the dark side of Faith No More, check out their song Malpractice off of the album Angel Dust. If you want more of the sultry, check out their cover of the Bee Gees tune I Started a Joke. If you want a song that will be stuck in your head by them, check out their tune Ashes to Ashes from their "Album of the Year" album. If you dive into their music before this singer Mike Patton joined, the vibe is a lot different with Chuck Mosely on vocals, but they really took off with Patton's 5 or 6 octave range. The 5 albums with Patton on vocals all sound like completely different bands, yet somehow you can still tell it's FNM. They evolve with every album, with just enough nuances to remind you that they do in fact have "a sound" of their own.

Anyone that i see that listens to FNM is my homie! Dont be afraid of the underground music, things like Samson, HED (pe), Jinjer, Opeth, Van Halen etc! Cheers fam! (diggin the Celldweller intro!)

Faith No More is a legendary influential band. They influnced so many bands that were mainstream, bands like korn, slipknot, deftones, papa roach, disturbed, system of a down, and so so much more. Alot of musicans respect them. The reason they werent as mainstream was probaly due to the nature of mike patton and the band they were known to troll and be dicks to other popular bands. They didnt like the idea of being famous.

I hate to say this, but I know what these lyrics are about. They were written by Faith No More's keyboardist (the blonde whose playing guitar in this video--the name's Roddy Bottum, btw). He's a homosexual, and literally wrote these words about going down on another guys anus! "If you want to open the hole, just put your head down and go. Step aside this piece of circumstance. Gotta wash away, the taste of evidence" Food for thought. 😆
