The Death Korps of Krieg are galaxy renowned trenchfighters and siege specialists. Their guardsmen stand emotionless against hails of gunfire, artillery bombardment all in the name of atoning for their planet's sins.
When a nearby regiment is forced to pull back lest they be completely wiped out, the Krieg 143rd commits to a full frontal charge to regain lost ground. Chaos renegades stand ready to repel the attackers, while the only sign of emotion from the guardsmen are the glint of their gasmasks in the fires of the battlefield.
200 hours of work and a few dozen in sound design, I finally finished this dang 5 minute clip. Pretty big jump considering I only ever done 30-40 second shorts before. It was painful, frustrating and showed me how much more I have to learn, and where my weaknesses lie, but it was fun seeing the final result.
Criticism and feedback is HIGHLY appreciated! I'm still a fledgling hobbyist animator who works on animations in my free time between classes, so any and all critique is extremely useful to help me learn to be a better animator!
Particular points of note I would appreciate feedback on are Motion, sound design, and pacing.

I love how the runner is basically told “your regiment sucks, you’re dying with us now”. Just perfectly describes Krieg

Seeing the heretic soldier check in on his companion when they tripped over fleeing the Kriegsman was a fun detail, because it reflected a degree of compassion which our protagonists do not have.

Honestly this is probably the most on point portrayal of the Death Korps, like it's not the meme-y "Haha me gonna suicide" territory that they're usually subjected to

I love how the Commisar shows no caution in the trench, head not hunched, no reactions tonl the explosions, clearly seasoned. He knows his job is easy as no one in his unit would even think of retreating, and he will only have to work hard to get into the action before the kriegsmen kill all the enemy themselves. The only soldiers as fearless as a Commisar.

Love the design of these guys, the gaz mask is british, the clothes are french, the helmet and the name (krieg = war) are german, really a concentrate of ww1.

My favorite thing about this is the small details you put into it, but most notably the sound of the las gun fire. That is probably the closest thing to what an actual laser would sound like, imo. Not the classic "pew pew" we all know but something more grounded. Well done.

What I like about this video is that it presents another view on the Chaos troppers. When one of them trips his comrade checks in on him and stays behind to cover the retreat of the others. It shows a degree of compassion, duty and heroism that is rarely given to the human followers of Chaos. Usually they are these one dimensional charicatures.
