I really didn't know what to expect with this acrylic texture experiment! I've never used Crackle Paste on watercolour paper before, but here I'll show you how to create a stunning abstract expressionist acrylic ink and paint scene that can be interpreted as a variety of views.
Acrylic Inks used were Daler Rowney Indigo and White, Liquitex Burnt Sienna and Phtalocynine Blue.
Acrylic Paints were Winsor & Newton Galeria Paynes Gray, Permanent Sap Green and Violet Iron Oxide, Daler Rowney System 3 Burnt Sienna, and Titanium White.
Crackle Paste is Pebeo Modeling Paste Crackling Effect.
Paper is Hahnemuhle Anniversary Edition Watercolour Block 30 x 40cm, 200 lbs.
Please feel free to get in touch if you have further questions, comments or feedback.

Wonderful! So creative - and brave!. I have a pad of that paper which I bought for watercolour but didn't get on very well with it. I, too, love acrylic inks, and this has given me inspiration to use up the paper for acrylic work. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise.

You talk about mastic fluid? Can you elaborate more? I love it and thank you for sharing
@helenworthington1826
@helenworthington1826 11 ай бұрын
Hello Jeanne. Thank you for your question regarding masking fluid. It's basically a white or pale coloured liquid that has a rubber like ingredient. You can apply it with an old brush (it can damage bristles if it doesn't wash out properly), or a drawing pen. It will repel watercolour and acrylic paint, so when you remove it the white paper remains I'll show it a bit more in videos to explain how useful it is! 😄

Hello Janet, and thank you so much for your lovely comments. I will be spraying it with a Matt Varnish spray for acrylics to keep it pristine. I also intend to frame it behind glass - easy to do because of it being on paper and not canvas 👍

Hello Diana 👋😊! Thank you so much for subscribing to my little channel, I really hope you'll enjoy watching the varied videos I've done. The gold paint is by the company 'Golden', and is Iridescent Gold. It's beautiful paint but if you can't get hold of it I'd also recommend Daler Rowney Pearlescent Pale or Pearlescent Rich Gold instead. They're almost as nice as Golden ones. Many thanks again for joining me, and for your question ☺️

Hi Helen, love this one! Did you leave the washi tape in place and, if so, is there any chance of it lifting? Either way, I've got to have a go at this, it's too tempting. Thanks again for sharing, ❤ from Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Hi there Eileen 👋. Glad you like it! I did actually very carefully peel off the washi tape when the Crackle Paste was completely dry. It doesn't stick as much as masking tape, which is handy! In my new video, I've played with the crackle paste and watercolours, and show you how to remove tape. Also I show how to get better grip on the paper for the paste 😉! Hope you try it and get great results 👍❤️

I wonder if those crackle bits stay on over time.
@helenworthington1826
@helenworthington1826 11 ай бұрын
Hi Nancy. That's a good question! I think that, because of the acrylic paints over the crackle paste, there should be enough to hold the crackles in place. I've also given it a coat of spray varnish, and because it's on paper and not canvas, I'm going to frame it behind glass too. Because the paper is quite thick to start with, there's no bending or movement, which there would with a lighter weight paper, so that should help too. Many thanks for your interest, it's appreciated ☺️

I think you probably can but I suspect it will soak into the paste and look quite pale. Maybe I should try it for us 😄?
