This is stunning!! You painted that sky and made it look like the easiest thing on earth!! But I can't figure how to paint gorgeous clouds for the life of me even though they are my favorite subject! So it was awesome to watch you paint!! Just beautiful!

Thanks for the comment and for visiting. Try using a brush with random easy strokes then a crunched up paper towel to add texture and smooth where you want it.

Terrific! Good to watch now. Am working on some pieces I set aside a while back. Am self-quarantining, so no excuses. Am working on another seascape that I started in a workshop, and have twisted and turned it , to try to revive. It's beginning to evolve, so it was great to get a Karen Hale video fix! Thanks Debora. I have lots of years of experience but mostly I don't take it personally in that I think I'm creating the next great masterpiece. Being fearless and realizing that it's only paint and canvas helps too. If it's not working, paint over it or set it aside for another time.

It takes a lot of prep work.I'll post them on KZfaq too when they are ready.

Yes, a sponge, the kind tile grouters use. On larger paintings I like to cover as much as I can quickly.

Ever since I destroyed an acrylic painting I was working on I have been so afraid to use water on my paintbrush or spray the canvas with water because I read that too much water can make the paint shiny and unable to paint on top with additional layers . How can I get the acrylic paint to stay wet long enough to be able to spread and blend on a large canvas? Without too much water. Or basically, how much is too much water? I just can’t figure out what else might be going on that’s making my painting in progress unable to be able to continue to put additional layers on it. Please help! If what I’m trying to say makes any sense 😂 You are the BEST!

Thanks for your comment. I'm not sure how to answer your question. I don't use water in mixing on my palette but do, as you can see from the videos, spray water on the canvas. I start with a damp brush. I haven't had and problems. Let each layer dry before applying the next. Good luck.

I have a few of the smaller pieces in real time. The video would be way too long in real time for larger pieces. The average watch time is under 3 min.

Yes, On the large paintings I like to use a sponge to get the base color down. In the "show more" section, just below the description, you will find a list of supplies I like to use. This was 2 years ago, I don't remember what was used for this one. I lay out about 40 colors on my palette because I work on several paintings at a time.

Demonstration is pretty worthless to me when you don’t say a word about what you’re doing, never identify the materials or techniques. Sorry to see my time wasted with stuff like this that teaches me nothing

So sorry that you are disappointed in the demo.and that you find them a waste of time. There are many folks who find them helpful. They are intended to be a demonstration not a tutorial. This is a side project for me at no charge to you. I make my living from creating and marketing my artwork. Since these are offered free of charge there is just so much time I can devote to them. There is a list of supplies I like to use in the "more" section.

Clicked on your video and although your works beautiful, I’m very disappointed. How is one to learn these abstract techniques without audio and everything presented at 60 miles an hour, I know it sounds critical. I don’t intend that but that’s kind of the way it is.

So sorry you find the videos lacking. They are a demonstration and not intended to be a tutorial. This is a side project for me.I am a working artist which means that in order to make a living I have to produce art and market it which leaves a limited amount of time for the videos. The You Tube demos are at no cost to you. I hope you can find them helpful, many people tell me they are. The average watch time is 3 min so I double time the video. You can adjust the speed by using the settings in the lower right corner of the video.
