I might actually like Dolly's voice even more in her older age. It's obviously not as powerful but it's gotten a really nice whispery timbre to it that is really pleasant to listen to.

Daft Punk and Bohemian Rhapsody will blow you away! You'll love Imagine! Their latest, "The Prayer" should get them their next big award! Dolly did a magnificent version of Jolene for the soundtrack of a movie "Dumplin.'" There was a TV special "Dolly Parton and Friends" in which it showed Dolly in the recording studio with producer Linda Perry. Linda explained she wanted the strings to sound a bit like Elinor Rigby by the Beatles. It is possibly even better than all of Dolly's previous recordings of Jolene.

Jolene lost big time. Mrs. Dolly Parton has been married to her husband, Carl Dean for over 55 years now. If your gonna do more Jolene, might I suggest the cover Miley Cyrus sang with her sister? Its a great rendition but a little different from Dolly's clear sound.

My niece Amy has the middle name Jolene for this song. My SiL almost named her older sister Mandy for the Barry Manilow sing but passed. Jacki later named her own daughter Mandy 😆 Watch out the girl you name your songs for you never know who'll carry it decades later. If y'all need to hear the best cover ever of this song check out the Bardcore version. The Shakespearian language will crack you up.

My favorite theory is that the subject of the song is in love with Jolene, but can't express it, so she has to hide behind the semblance of being married. Listen to how she describes Jolene. No woman describes the woman going after her man in those loving terms. =D
