We're covering different types of reports some Emirates Cabin Supervisors use to punish other Emirates Cabin Crew with. Sometimes reports are necessary, other times not. With this video, we're trying to raise awareness towards the easy backstabbing culture Middle Eastern Airlines tend to have. We'd love to see Airline management address this issue, by adopting a system that punishes those who report unjustly behind the back. We believe that professionalism can also be achieved in a friendly work environment. Abuse of Power in the Emirates Airline | 5 Real Stories of VERY MEAN Emirates Cabin Crew Supervisors

Well, I dont know nowadays, but during my time in EK (2010-2013) not being able to do the flight back to dubai did not mean offloading 50 passengers. I remember I got sick and couldnt do the flight back BKK-DXB and the purser told me "dont worry, thats why there are A positions. They can take your door and area". I dont know if today they still have A positions. (In A380 we used to have ML4A MR4A ML3 and one or two more in the upper deck...)
@WishCasting
@WishCasting 3 жыл бұрын
From 2016-17 onwards, A position on a b777 got removed (R5A). Airbus is different of course for DF ops and sweethearts. Maybe I got it wrong and policies are different in EK, but I feel quite confident (from IATA regulations) saying that if an aircraft is full and you have a 50 pax : 1 crew ratio, and A positions are missing, the exceeding allowed pax need to be offloaded. But I might be wrong. Thanks for adding value with your comment! Didn't think about the A positions

@@WishCasting Old times.... hehe. I remember I was "pure" A380. I got crossed trained in 2012 for B777 but only flew it twice. There was this competition between A380 crew and "main fleet" crew. Advantages of A380: only one turnaround (Jeddah). Advantage of main fleet: many destinations more. But everything changed sine then. Happy to help! :-)

What about being reported because on your free time you went to the office to grab your duty free pouch and you're stopped by some lady who states that in her opinion your top is "extremely see through" and she's going to report you for that... Never in my life I have worn anything see-though and never in my life I wore anything disrespectful and now this? I swear to God this company is a circus. Not only you have to expect report on-board, but also in your free time! Honestly - People should never consider Emirates as a regular employer, but rather a seasonal job to do when you're young. Because If you can be reported and lose your job for such a ridiculous thing, you can never trust this company and it's pay to have a decent, stable life.

Another great video. I’m your biggest fan in the USA. Worked several years as Cabin Crew for American Airlines. Was working as “extra” on flight to Chicago as the flight was booked to capacity. Purser directed me to assist in the lower galley during boarding. There was a flight service manager from another base who was on the flight as a passenger. This manager wrote me up for get this . . . not passing out magazines during boarding. Duh. I was assisting, as directed, in the lower galley. Was called to my manager’s office to give a full account as to what happened. This was on my day off, with no pay. Everything worked out in my favor. I was not even given a warning. But, what a complete hassle and waste of my time and energy.

I have heard that it costs an airline between 20 to 30k to train a new recruit to be a flight attendant. Then firing them for a small slip is just going to cost them more money to replace that flight attendant. This looks like a huge waste of money. In these difficult times, should they not consider consolidating their losses by keeping the crew they have, because they have invested so much time and money in their training ?
@WishCasting
@WishCasting 3 жыл бұрын
You heard right! It's expensive to train crew! They've probably figured out that firing and lowering wages and benefits for new contracts is cheaper than keeping crew avoiding training costs.
@izabellabiba
@izabellabiba 3 жыл бұрын
Firing is at unbelievable levels here - not only in the Airlines and not only because of the covid 19, it's been happening for years.. In some sectors, you work for 3 - 6ths max! Who controls HR??????? The companies should look into it closely - they loose more than they gain - training for each new employee, visa, etc... The same thousands of employees move from one company to another, they are the same people, not better - not worse, but yet they get fired and hired. If you think, that in a bank, probably nobody who talks to you has been there for more than a year.... Specific way of business..

you are looking for rationalism where there is none. most people get fired not because they are not good at their job but because the management don't like them or other emotional nonsense. And it is also a power game.

Well said Orlando. I totally agree with you. It's not nice to be cut off for the mistake that happened long time ago because of these silly reasons. That would be more professional and elegant if the supervisor willing to talk about the issue right on the spot face to face at the right time. The crew will also respect them more. Not only in the airlines company tho, we need this attitude at any work field

Smiling can be questionable or an invitation and sometimes dubious. You are better off smiling after you’ve greeted the person the first time. Constantly smiling is not respectable then we ask what do you want and is there something wrong. There are rules to smiling. Even with males if you add a dab of lipstick you appear to be smiling. Then you don’t have to smile. Don’t be cheap with makeup. A lay over is your time to relax. Your work performance at any given moment and sound judgement depends on how well you have rested. Concerns are rightfully so since medical care and insurance is dubious in any foreign country.

The best idea is to identify first if the issue is job related and performance related and is it part of you job description and role for the day. If it’s not, then it’s a nonissue. A sunburn can be dangerous and when see blisters it may need medical attention. So there should be rules, like this is not your vacation and you are expected to perform at work so wear sunblock and avoid the sun.

Thank you for the video, as usual we got amazing content in your videos👌! And the mentality that is going on art he moment is not only in emirates, I presently work in an offshore and internationally shipping company here in Mauritius and people get promoted if they as slick well or if they report others (whether it is true or not). Now go figure about the competency outcomes from people like that. I think that covid hit so many of us financially and now it turned out that everyone only think about their own self and are ready to get ride of others in order to secure themselves. It is unfortunate tho

Dont forget those CSV who give feedback and then start fullying you until you lose it and then leads to a report... jesus im so happy im out of that negativity! Supervisors report because they have no real leadership skills, and the way they talk to crew sometimes only escalate the issue rather than having the crew thinking about it positively.

Upon landing in DXB she told the supervisor and the next day I had an invite to come to HQ for a chat. I felt so betrayed because she was super nice on the flight. Couple of months later I ran into her at her apartment building because my friend lives there.. Ofcourse she denied and was super sweet again... "hiiii how are youuu??" A Supervisor that submit too many reports, He or She should be called out, and their ability to manage should be questioned. On a defunct carrier, I worked as a base secretary. One particular CSM got called in and actually downgraded because of her petty abuse of power and reports. It was so bad at one point that this individual had crew call out, because they did not want to work with here. Any one that ever worked the L1011 clearly knows that to close that door you must move the arming lever to the armed position and once the door closed you place the lever on the dissarm position. This individual wrote a Cabin Crew for wrongfully and careless door operation. Oh Tanja was the Queen of Petty.

💯 True and happening.. Typical Middle East airline culture.The smile in the cabin even without passenger can really be annoying. In QR, we say smiles on hats on🤣🤣🤣 I’m glad i’m done with it.

They have every right to be picky and punish when something out of standards happens. Emirates doesn't punish supervisors being too strict, there is no way that'll ever happen. But they should punish reporting behind people's back. That's for sure.

Can you do a video asking for former (or even current) Emirates supervisors to contact you with their story of "reporting" their crew members (who now got fired as a result). This will be a video of Emirates (or ex) supervisors asking for forgiveness from their crew who they might have unnecessarily reported in the past and are now terminated.

Airlines in general need to be pressured to treat their employees better. This is the case across the board in the industry and I do not just mean Emirates but airlines in general. I am a medical doctor who has been repeatedly the victim of the backstabbing workplace culture in hospitals from nurses, doctors and patients and their families. I can say from personal experience, this does a great deal of damage to our collective morale and standing as health care providers. Nobody should have to put up with this kind of nonsense. Supervisors need to have the insight to distinguish between legitimate complaints and ludicrous ones. Those unable to distinguish between the two should NOT be in a position of authority.

June 2018, DXB to MNL. Coming from a 5 day medical convention. Male middle eastern (non-arab) FA (non-smiling) carelessly opened a can of coke to serve the passenger next to me... spilled almost a quarter on my pants. The FA brought a few sheets of napkin, no apologies! I asked if if he won't apologize so he gave a non-sincere one (very obvious on facial reaction). I talked to him at the galley and asked if his unsincere attitude was because I am a Filipino or dark-skinned? He kept mum, still with that cynical expression. I told him that having fairer skin doesn't make one superior over others and that no one deserves such treatment, regardless of nationality or line of work. The Filipina purser stepped-in, only then did this FA changed his demeanor. I am an educated person and I don't one anyone to lose his/her job. I didn't make a formal complaint but I hope this person has changed for his own sake. Thanks!

Most of supervisors are a pro backstabbers. If any of you here watching this video, or reading this comment, put yourself together, are you really insecure of yourself and it makes you feel so good reporting us at all time? Remember you're also a human and u make mistakes too. But Karma always find its way. Btw, if only I can report you just because you have a very uncomfortable old looking face, you'd be fired by now oh supervisors. Lol lots of love, from us the brights and youngs. ;)

Ok, I get some of this. But, I would like to know the benefits of reporting? The supervisors should absolutely give feedback. My question remains there has to be material benefits for people behaving like petty morons, especially in the era of air travel industry we are living now what is the purpose. So what if someone goes outside the 40 mile range? Did they do their job correctly? and did they perform all the tasks correctly and showed up on time? Ok then... WHAT is the benefit of reporting crap. This is a serious question? Is it monetary? Is it sexual? is it personal gain? WTF how supervisors could possibly behave that way.
