Bon Scott's death earlier that year inspired this song, basically it's message is "You can't keep a good band down". It was the first single off the album featuring new singer Brian Johnson. In a way it's like a resurrection.

@@aboutthemetal8783 Sorry man, I don't buy into any of that 'Bon wrote the lyrics' shit. That means one of Brian's first jobs was to act like he wrote the lyrics to that album from then till every interview till this day?? ! Think about it! No fkin way. I'm sure you've seen him in interviews talking about how he wrote certain songs. Plus DC aren't the type of boys to not give credit where it was needed. If they used Bon's lyrics it would have been credited to him on the album simple as that. Unless it's proved otherwise.

@@andyb4837 Yeah. Brian Johnson wrote all the lyrics. Back in Black was a tribute to Bon Scott. In the documentary, Brian was having trouble writing the lyrics not sure he could fill Bon Scott's shoes. They were in Jamaica making the album. He took a walk along the beach to clear his head of all the pressure and saw the clouds of a tropical storm brewing overhead and those began the lyrics of Hells Bells. The rest just started to flow from there.

The guy in shorts wears a schoolboy uniform because when they first started playing bars in Australia, he was still in school and would go straight from there to the gigs. It became such a "thing" that he just keeps doing it even though he's a senior citizen by now.

the guitar looks huge because the guy holding it is so small. ac/dc was 5 guys who were all so short that you'd think you were teaching 5th grade if you were standing in the middle of them. for a bunch of little guys, they sure put out a big sound.

Talented Scottish boys in an Australian band, they grew up in Australia they formed the band in Australia, annoys the hell out of me how all these Scottish and English people come on here and try to claim AC/DC as their own, the BAND MEMBERS themselves even say their an AUSTRALIAN band so nice try peeps but us Aussies already know who they are, how where and when they formed as a band, and where their heritage lies ok.

I LOVE Steph's interpretation even though that's not exactly what the band meant, but these things occur in art (multiple meanings). What they meant by 'back in black' was that they were in mourning over the loss of their previous singer Bon Scott less than a year prior (might give 'Highway to Hell' a go do find out). Their recovery from that loss is unprecedented as this wound up being the pinnacle of their success as band, even with a new vocalist. One of the greatest 'comebacks' in music history. Love you guys so much!

The "Back in Black" album, with its black cover and the songs Hells Bells and Back in Black, was a requiem for Bon Scott, the former singer, who had just died. The band was Back in action and in Black, i.e. wearing black in mourning for Bon. Cheers.

First time watching one of your Vids, the song is a tribute to their former singer Bon Scott who died unexpectedly after a night of drinking in England. AC/DC is a blues rock band. Angus young was the fella in the shorts one of the greatest guitarists in all of rock history. Malcolm Young is the guy with the over sized guitar. If you wanna hear a good song that Bon Scott did, I recommend "Whole lotta Rosie" "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" "Girls got Rhythm" many of the Songs Bon did are some of the best songs AC/DC has in my opinion, but Brian amazing and he helped bring them back when it seemed almost like they were done for.

The guitarist Angus Young, use to come home from school, in his uniform, and practice guitar...his sister told him, that if he ever got in a band, he should use that look..and he DID!...one of his trademarks =D...along with his Chuck Berry inspired Duck Walking!!!

Back in Black is an accounting reference. Bon Scott died and Brian Johnson became the new singer. Brian had been facing bankruptcy, so his accounts were in the RED. He was given a $1M signing bonus when he was accepted as the new singer. This moved his account into the BLACK again. He was BACK In BLACK.

WTF. It has nothing to do with Brian Johnson's financials, and he wasn't given a S1m sign on bonus. The reference to "Back In Black" means that the band is returning, but are still mourning the death of Bon. People wear black when they are in mourning.

Awesome song and reaction! Angus Young is the guitarist in the schoolboy outfit. That is his brother Malcolm Young with as you call it " the big guitar". Great reaction.. songs have many interpretations so whatever you think is right for you. My dad, rest his soul drank popov right out of the bottle.

The song was a tribute to their last lead singer named Bon Scott. He died of alchol related circumstances. So they got a new lead singer(the best in rock n roll) name Brian Johnson and they came out with this as a tribute to him. It was also a message to critics that the band is back.

The story behind Angus's uniform. When they first started playing Angus was still in school. He didn't have time after school to go home and change so he headed straight from school to their gigs. What you see him wearing is a reproduction of his old uniform. After a few years it became his schtick as well as being one of the guitar gods.

Been rocking AC/DC on subwoofers since I was a teenager in the late 80's. Their songs thump. One of my favorites for bass is AC/DC - Got You By The Balls. Highly recommended on a good system.
