A dialogue on the takeaways from international conferences: what makes a viable climate solution? We will be joined by two panelists who have been part of community mobilisations, grassroots organizations, and experienced international conferences (including COP28).
Panelists:
⭐️ Tyler Booth (South Africa): Tyler was a Chevening Scholar for 21/22 and completed her MSc in Climate Change and Environmental Policy at the University of Leeds, where she earned awards for the best dissertation and best in her programme. Tyler has represented the youth of South Africa in multiple local to international conferences including both UNFCCC COP25 and COP26, the UN Partnership for Action on the Green Economy Conference, and EU-SA Climate Diplomacy Week. She was a project lead for the first ever South African Youth Climate Action Plan (SA YCAP), the Joburg Youth Climate Action Plan, and has previously led the Youth Policy Committee Climate Change Working group.
⭐️ Zaheer Sooliman (South Africa): Zaheer is a 21-year-old Digital Arts Student at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. With an interest in energy, biodiversity, and sustainability, he is an active climate activist and participated as a youth delegate to COP27 and COP28 with the South African delegation. In 2021, he was a coordinator for South Africa’s first-ever youth climate action plan and acted as an Art and Digital Media Lead for the same process, combining art and climate action and coordinating over 2000 youth inputs. His goals are to combine his background in digital arts and animation with his passion for climate action to create a cleaner, greener future for all, especially through newer and more creative mediums.
