No "Sneak Attack" for the award - well deserved. My wife and I only discovered and started binge-watching Kim's Convenience and cannot contain ourselves with laughter. So well written and acted. It is a total gem and respite from the news of the day. I can't remember when I've laughed so hard that I've nearly fallen off the couch!

Ummm.. Kim's Convenience is filmed at a closed CBC Soundstage in Toronto.. Exterior shots are filmed at Mimi's Convenience in Chinatown .. So you won't be able to see anything, sorry..

Usually, the actor looks drastically different from the character because they groom themselves differently in real life, but Paul looks exactly like Sang-il, it’s almost like our Appa’s giving the speech lmao

I only discovered this show on Netflix this past spring but have already watched all three available seasons at least half a dozen times each. Lots of great, fun character work and the stories and relationships, though they involve an immigrant family, can easily apply to and be found in every nationality and walk of life. I think that's the show's real triumph, that it crosses cultural boundaries by presenting its characters first and foremost as three dimensional human beings -- who just happen to be Asian immigrants. Love the show, can't wait for season 4.

An incredibly fine actor but seems to be an even better man! Representation does matter. Not only was it cool to see an Asian family run a grocery store (like the Kang family where I grew up) but I also really like the representation of what Canada is supposed to be; a place for everybody!

Ironically, Iroh was supposed to be Ozai's brother. But, Daniel Dae Kim ( Who plays Ozai ) is 4 years older than him . However, Paul ( Who plays Iroh ) looks like he is around 60-61 years old yet he's surprisingly only 49 . Meanwhile, Daniel Dae Kim is 53 yet he looks no older than 38-39 years old.

I'm not Korean so I can't speak to that experience, but I do teach ESL. It's not so much that the accent is unrealistic as the grammar and phrasing is unrealistic. The script is clearly designed so that native English speakers can understand what the kids are trying to communicate when, realistically, we either shouldn't be able to understand everything because they haven't learned that much English and the pronunciation would actually be worse or they should be speaking in more natural sentences because they have lived in Canada for so long. They would still speak with an accent, of course, but they probably wouldn't confuse verb tenses as much or forget to use pronouns. or, most realistically, they would absolutely just speak in Korean to each other most of the time.

A friend of mine told me about this series since he knows how much I love Korean programming. I didn't think I'd like it considering it wasn't from Korea, but in....Canada? I have to say this show really opened my eyes to how Canadian life is with all the representation. I didn't even know there were Hispanic people in Canada, so that was nice to see. Here in the States, Hispanics are usually subjected to negative roles.

Kim's convience was an absolute gem. Excellent cast and most screenplays were just honest and humorous. I started to notice a change in direction in the final season. Too bad, it was a great show and I am grateful for the chance to see great talent!

Just watched Kim’s convenience on Netflix, appa is my favorite character and what I didn’t expect is his fluent English now I know he fake it. It was an inspiring speech on the stage! Love it!
