Acaia Lunar digital scale first coffee using flow control device on Lelit MaraX. I need to mention that I did not replace the bottom spring of the MaraX, I am testing it that way first.

I'm curious to know if there is any clumping with your grinder. I use a grinder that does the job but it comes out kind of clumped together. I'm wondering if these higher models avoid that or if all espresso machines kick out clumpy grains? I mean as soon as use my distributor they go away but still it would nice to not have them clump. Great video by the way.

HI! There is not much clumping with the Specialita. I am not sure if the machine can clump it away. the specialita as a little device that help declump when the grind pass to the shoot. Thanks!

Damn. I just realized something on your machine. You added a flow control. That's not usually on the Mara X. What a beautiful addition. I was curious as to what that actually did but you just demonstrated. It allows you to add any level of preinfusion but also lower the pressure on the fly so if you are getting too much pressure you can adjust it as the water is flowing out, right? Was that addition expensive and hard to install?

What you said is right. Now that I have more experience with the device I can control my flow to get better tasting shot. More videos are coming on my new workflow (flow control and the lunar scale). It was easy for the valve installation but hard with the pressure gauge. The price was 330$ Canadian at idrinkcoffee.com. I have a video on my experience installing the device. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rrBil6mmvKyamJc.html

Could you fit the bodum under the lelit? I'm wondering what scale to buy for long term, acaia pearl or bodum, lunar seems a bit overpriced :)

Yes you can it is a bit big but it will work. And yes the caia is pricy 😬

I think it is great, probably the best on the market. But expensive 😭

I got lelit Mara X as well and today installed the Lelit Flow Control kit. I was testing the flow rate when flow paddle turned to maximum but only got a flow of 40 - 42g / 10sec, which seems to be quite low compared to the usual. Would you be able to share/test how much your flow / 10sec is at the maximum?
@CajournoOddity3 жыл бұрын
Will test that for you and get back to you. With your paddle what is the range that you can rotate. My lever can turn a little bit more then 2 full turns.did you measure the flow rate before the installation?
@CajournoOddity3 жыл бұрын
Before installing the device i did mesure the flow rate and it was approx at 50-55g / 10s. with my lever fully open 2 full turn and 1/8 it is at 54g / 10s but i would never do it at fully opened, when i do that the needle goes wild and i am at 10 bars or more. So i leave it 3/4 open and the flow is 40g / 10s. Can you talk more about your experience with the lelit flow control, many here will be happy about that if you share. Thank you!

Did a flow test for 20 sec, on the stock lelit without flow control device it was 105-110g / 20s. With the flow control device fully opened, it is 125-132g / 20s. I don't know if it changes things but i did not remove the bottom spring in the E61 group.

Thanks for your reply! I figured that since our flow control unit is not the same, yours could be turned more where as mine is same as the Lelit Bianca one where you cannot keep turning it. Anyways I have been testing techniques and figuring out how things work. Recently looked at a youtube video where he started the shot with flow control fully closed, then open just enough to reach 2 bars, and then close it completely. Once the puck gets wet and espresso starts dripping, fully open the flow control until 85% close to your ideal yield and then slowly close the lever aiming to fully close it at the point where you get the yield.

@@Michael-ee4bb Are you getting better tasting shot? I will test that technique, thank you for sharing :)

Eureka has that mutch retention? 1.5g...

No it as about 0.3g But when i switch from drip setting to espresso for a reason unknown to me it as about 1.2g to 1.5g

What does flow control mean?
@CajournoOddity3 жыл бұрын
Hi! With the flow control device that i added to my machine it permit me to change the flow pressure of the water htting the coffee. That can change the taste in the cup buy doing adjustment with the lever. Here is a video that can better explain. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/etCoZaZp3r69kmg.html
