The Cavaliers defeated the #5 Hokies in the latest edition of the Commonwealth Clash, 80-75. Virginia Tech had already secured the top seed in the ACC Tournament. For Virginia, this is their first win over a Top 5 team since 2017 and their fourth Top 25 win of the season. UVA freshman Kymora Johnson led the Cavaliers with 21 points, eight assists, four rebounds, and two steals. Camryn Taylor had 17 points and seven rebounds. Paris Clark added 16 points, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Georgia Amoore hit 8 three-pointers and scored a Virginia Tech record 39 points in the game. Elizabeth Kitley scored 20 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and blocked four shots, but left the game midway through the third quarter and never returned to the game.
