During the a skip drill, the girl was extending her leg before the strike, in effect pawing the ground. But some people mistakenly teach the a skip like that.
@dennisrobinson80082 жыл бұрын
Some think "pawing" and "reaching" were effective techniques. Coach mentioned that they are not...
@dennisrobinson8008 Жыл бұрын
Coach says pawing causes most of the force development to be generated by the hamstring and not the glutes
@TheLingnerFamily Жыл бұрын
@@dennisrobinson8008 Possibly resulting in hamstrings pulls etc.?
@dennisrobinson8008 Жыл бұрын
@@TheLingnerFamily Yep. And glutes are the most powerful muscle in the body, many athletes don't even fully activate their glutes.
@dennisrobinson8008 Жыл бұрын
@@TheLingnerFamily I was able to see that Brianna Wilson of Jamaica does not have a good "upright sprinting technique" as coached by Jonas Dodo, she's "pawing" and "reaching" after a pretty good 60m which is up there with the best of the world.

Great video. This guy is very erudite but I spotted an error in is terminology. Elastic strength is an eccentric contraction not an isometric contraction. Isometric is a very powerful static contraction.

Who is he? I have googled his name to find how famous he is, but I could hardly find info. Is his way of doing A skip better than the way we do? The reason I'm wondered is because I have watched videos on youtube of elite sprinters doing skip drills, and they just do as the way we do, not the one introduced in this video. Which one should I trust more? I actually found this video pretty practical and helpful except for that A skip thing.

Thank you it was good stuff. I'm a Football (Soccer) player so it isn't as helpful as it is for a sprinter but let's see.

You're better with short distance acceleration stuff, 0-30 yards for example, 40 yards dash info.
@dennisrobinson8008 Жыл бұрын
Even in the "ankling" drill Jasmine has a propensity to "pull back" using her hamstrings instead of "striking" down using her glutes...

"If the hip and knee produce loads of force but the ankle is soft no speed"46:30 Please please respond to this. How can I get the strong ankle I need??? Strength work or making sure my ankle is dorsiflexed?
@Lumocri6 жыл бұрын
Please respond I've been running track in college getting literally the same times in the 60s every week. My acceleration which I thought was the problem, was fixed in today's race but my top speed was poor and I feel out of the race.

Anyone help me out.

Making sure the ankle is dorsiflexed is the first step. Also doing some form of jump rope helps.

Strengthen calves and feet. Su Bingtian was having feet collapse under heave force delivery due to weak ankles and feet, and strengthening this was worth .2 seconds.
