This really boils down to which plugins you have from before. I have Waves Clarity Pro, SpectraLayers (Steinberg) and Rx 10 + Zynaptics plugins.I tried to restore very old recording from the 70ties. The studio setting did not work very well and I got better result by using the other tools. You are jumping a little bit to your conclusion, as for really bad recording this plugins does to work to well. So after 2 days of testing, I passed buying it.

what is your go to tool for shitty zoom recording? I have all your tools you mention, but still struggle with that. I end up not touching the zoom recording, maybe do a light eq..

Thanks for sharing your experience, that's great to know! For me, I found DxRevive was really good on generally poor recordings. Maybe I lucked out with the example in my video, but I've found it mostly as good-or-better than RX for problem recordings. HOWEVER: every problem recording is different, and you often have to attack it with multiple plugins, and I admit you simply do not have as much control within DxRevive; it either works, or it doesn't. It's hard to say without hearing the recording, but if we're talking about voice recordings, I would always start with Accentize DeRoom, and probably a denoise plugin, usually Bertom DeNoise or the RX suite. Tune it in as best you can, and look at EQ, dynamic EQ, compressors, transient designers, if you have resonant frequencies. It can get complicated, fast! I'd say DxRevive is really good if the recording isn't too terrible, otherwise you have to fight it tooth and nail. Or just accept that it's a shitty recording, haha. Honestly, sometimes bad recordings just can't be fixed. Hope that helps?

Would have been interesting to use RX Dialogue Isolate, which is often better than RX Denoise, and compare it to Waves Clarity Pro and to the "mother of all denoisers" UA C-suite C-vox, made by Cedar.

Whoa! I've never used UAD C-suite C-vox! Thanks for these great suggestions; good call on Dialogue Isolate, I'll definitely throw that in the next challenge. Now to get my hands on a copy of C-Vox...

@@palebluedotstudios I've seen they have Holiday sales currently. C-vox is 60% down... I bought an Apollo solo only to be able to use C-vox - at the regular price. Haven't regretted it. Except for the other more expensive Cedar products, I haven't found any other yet that affects the voice as little as this one.

I don't like the processed and gated sound. The F and S get De-essed really hard. It sounds so punchy but yet airy at the same time. Also, it makes your voice sound like you have a frog in your throat.

@0:38 why are you showing music performers?! Your inclusion of that clip, sent me down a path of watching MULTIPLE VIDEOS whereby I learned this app was EXCLUSIVELY for dialogue, and NOT sung vocals. I resent your poor clip selection & its inherent implication for wasting my time.

I was wondering the same thing - would it actually work on singing? Discovered nothing to suggest it would. No mention of singing on the maker's website.

My apologies if I misled you. I feel like this plugin will help anyone-be it voice, or singing-if the recording is less than ideal. To me, that includes singers in rooms that aren't treated. But I get it. Thanks for watching!

@@palebluedotstudios That's fair. The reason it impacts many of us, are often 2-fold: 1) A.I. models are often train on spoken patterns which are non-rhythmically & non-tonally specific. Therefore, it can become confused as to what is accurate vocally within the context of music. 2) another musical concern is because many times we are trying to work around recording/mix issues whereby we do not receive all of the individual stems... only a stereo track. So, we often have to use software to separate them and there can be musical attributes which confuse the A.I.

@@sekritskworl-sekrit_studios Good points. I suspect DxRevive (or similar plugins) wouldn't be able to deal with musical artifacts in digitally-separated tracks-that's a pretty tall order! I did try DxRevive on a roomy singing vocal, and it worked quite well; better than anything else I have. Cheers!

Goyo. Now CLEAR Is also GREAT. And only $29 for those who signed up Neta. It just doesn’t add in the frequencies. Studio sound. But it does great at cleaning up audio.
