EEE SO HAPPY I GOT IN !! this was my second time applying so i'm proud of myself for sticking with it!
music is loretta - ginger root and rapp snitch knishes - mf doom
(so sorry for the address censoring i know it's a lot LOL)

The faces at time stamp 2:24 have to be made favorite. Your perspective and the way you draw the lines of the human figure are crazy. Even the movement in you dance stage drawing have so much life. Good luck!

congratsss!!!!! I love your sketchbook! I'm looking to apply next year, your sketchbook gave me hope to get in because it actually looks like a sketchbook. All I see are the crazy ones that look more like completed works that a sketchbook.

yess thank you sm!! calarts actually only weighs the importance of the sketchbook around 15%. from what i know, they prioritize the portfolio and artist statement, and they want to know from your sketchbook that you can adapt and build on ideas, rather than making fully finished works!

hi !!! It definitely depends but I think for most of these I went straight in with pen! With more complex stuff I like to plan things out lightly in pencil, but practicing going straight into pen can make you a much more confident artist c:

This is amazing! I am a beginner artists. Are there any good books you recommend on the fundamentals especially observational drawing? Its hard to do studies and improve when you cant draw what you see. Or if there arent any books, jusy advice at improving at observation? Your art is so great!

Tysm!! I used a bunch but I’ll try my best to list them all here: • tombow fudenosuke brush pen for inking • soft marking pen (highlighter pack, I found it at daiso!) • pentel color pen fine point # s360 (blue and green) • prismacolor premier markers • posca paint pens • mildliner highlighters I think that’s everything lol!

I’m an idiot and I’m wondering if you sketched your art out before finalizing it with ink and then paint. Am I right to think that? I’m just wondering because I’m horrible at art

Nah man you’re all good! Honestly it depends on the sketch, but I think in this sketchbook I tried with most drawings (if not all) to go directly into pen / whatever medium I was using without doing construction lines. I did this so I could gain more confidence and control in the way I made my lines :]

Hi!! Unfortunately I don’t know specifically what they did or didn’t like about my sketchbook, but I’m able to know more about what they liked / didn’t like about my portfolio (the most important part of the application!) it’s on my gumroad in the description if you’re interested!
