✨my accepted sketchbook portfolio for Calarts Character animation BFA!!✨
I've poured too much of my soul into it that the whole sketchbook got torn apart 💀 and it looks like it's been beaten up a few times, but here it is hoorayyyy 🌝
hope u enjoy!!
I still can't believe I got accepted and my hands are shaking like crazyy 👹👹
I'm a Calartian now WHAT-
tho whatever the result i might’ve gotten, it was totally worth a try
and it's been a great opportunity for me to put this much effort into something for the first time ever in my life, so yeah
big cheers to u ppl who are currently working on their sketchbook portfolio, and i'm sure it'll turn out great :)

Hey guys long time no see!!! Thank u so much for those who waited for me even though I was in a death nap ;-; my application is finally over so I've got time now! About my animatics, i am currently working on one rn, idk when I'll be going to finish it but at last I'll upload them for sure!

For those who r wondering, the sketchbook I used is ---> ‘Hahnemühle D&S A6 140g Draft&Sketch’!! though i wouldn’t recommend using permanent markers on it bc they go through papers🥲 most of my drawings were colored in watercolors, and sum of the marker drawings were used in double layered papers :) hope this helps!! ☺

hey :) this video made me really happy and really sad and really inspired (good art can bring that out in people) ( and your art is so good),, it's incredible that we're the around the same age and yet you have so much control over your lines and shapes, like woah! it's really impressive! and must have taken a lot of work I never really comment but this video caught me in a special time. i recently had to decide what major I'm going for in college, and i had to come to terms with never going to art school even though art has been a crucial part my whole life. I'll be putting my all into getting into medschool. it's probably the right choice but i'm still kinda grieving?? idk but looking at your sketchbook and your work reminded me of why i love art so much. the craftmenship in this notebook is straight up sucking my brains out please never stop creating art you're going to be amazing godspeed in calcarts!!

I am so glad I inspired you and your words inspired me also. College stuff are always complicated and confusing for me as well, so I believe it was a tough decision for you to make.🥺but even if it was, I wish everything turns out great no matter what path you choose to walk on, and hopefully the time you've spent doing art eventually comes around you someday in the best ways possible. KZfaq algorithm brought us together. Not sure if this is what you submitted to get into calarts or what you’ve done there but either way your history indicates to me you have a dazzling future ahead of you in the art world. I’m in awe. I studied architecture at an art university and this is some top tier stuff. Never stop drawing

thank u so much!! :) I mainly used 'Staedtler Pigment Liner 0.3-2.0' & 'Sumiiro Thin Line' brush pen!

how long did it take for you to complete this sketchbook? :0 was there a certain length you had to hit for showing ur sketchbook? (as in if you had to do like atleast half a book)

Thank you for watching! :D Yes, I did set my own goals regarding the remaining time and how many pages I was gonna complete! I had abt like 3 months left till deadline, and I vaguely considered the total number of pages in the halfway of the sketchbook depending on my speed of finishing them. And I assume it took about 2.5 months completing it! Also, I wanted to work on a few more slideroom ports at the last minute, so I needed to consider that too! I hope this helped! :) :)

thank u sm for watching!☺ I wouldn't say there are specific artists I was inspired by, but I went through a lot of calarts sketchbook vids so I guess that helped me set the vibe. also I was traveling Thailand at the time I was filling out the sketchbook, so a lot of my references came from that. I think it's a great idea to go traveling or go smwhere new when u need new ideas or life drawing refs!!

@@bagofcornchips00 I can definitely see the calarts inspiration there, i’ve watched many videos of them too. But yours just had a tighter more complete feel (in my opinion) Stylized but detailed. And I agree about travel, its so important to increase the mental library.
