All buses and trains have a ramp and a driver ready to flip it out when needed. - all stores must be accesable for people in wheelchair, they must be navigable for people with a stroller. Only place youre not protected by law is in places where its for one reason or another simply isnt posible to build ramps and/or extra wide doors/aisles in the supermarket, we have elevators on the trainstations/metro. I know, its not all who actually have it, but the vast majority do. And if they dont, then you have a very very strong case against them, and you can get free legal advice/support for the case. Were talking about historical and protected buildings here, theres no comparison to anything modern, and I honestly find it a bit off that a few examples makes you conclude its all "useless" (I rarely go there, I dont use public transport) - Denmark have one of the most "inclusive" systems around, but its not perfect. But its designed so whenever theres actual problems then just one user can get it changed if they ask for it.

There are some things that can be done to make it easier for those that can also walk with a cane. But having a way to more easily get to the door would be a great start.

@@TravelinYoung There are a lot of historical buildings that are worthy of preservation, and it supposed to look like it has always looked. If design is changed it can cause a huge fine, and force it back to how it looked originally

I disagree. It is certainly possible to provide accessibility for all without compromising the integrity of the building. That's why we have building engineers and architects.

@@The_best_days_are_yesterdays That doesnt help if the looks are dramitacally changed when it isnt allowed. Never mentioned anything about integrety. Thats how it works in Denmark. Historical buildings are categorized into categories. And the harsest category you are not allowed to do anything that alters the look.

There can at least be a much easier way for someone who is handicap to get to the front door. That in itself would be a massive improvement and something that doesn’t affect the structure of the castle itself and a reasonable expectation.

@@TravelinYoung Ahh yes Rosenborg castle and their non existing parking. When you are a commercial driver in Copenhagen you have a somewhat heated relationship with that place, especially in the tourist season, when hordes of busses tries to park there. Sometimes in two lanes.

Yes but consider that: There was no indoor plumbing in 1606; There was no electricity in 1606; There was no modern heating or air conditioning in 1606; There was nothing to regulate humidity levels in 1606; Not to mention no telephones, security cameras, or other mod cons. Obviously this "protected castle" must certainly have been retrofitted with all of these things and more, therefore it is not too much to expect accessibility upgrades as well. We can definitely appreciate and protect the past while at the same time employing modern building standards so that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy these public treasures.

Fanø is fantastic! ❤️ Been there on vacation several times and loved it so much. Sønderho and Nordby are both really nice and cozy towns. I suffer from severe social anxiety and Fanø is the only place I’ve ever been able to relax somewhat. It is not true that there are no rules. There are actually accessibility requirements for all new buildings above a certain size, but it is not always possible to retrofit old buildings.

That appears to be true! But unfortunate when you are with someone who requires extra assistance. Rosenberg is a treasure and should be available for everyone to experience.

I commend Frederiksborg Slot and the National Museum - half of which is the old Prince’s Palace - for figuring out a way to make protected history accessible for everyone.

Ha yeah, push someone in a wheelchair all the way up the round tower and then find out at the top there are only stairs to get outside. Quote from their website - Because of the two sets of stairs to the top, the Round Tower sadly is not very accessible for visitors in wheelchairs. As for S Trains, I have been to more than one station where construction prevented elevators from being accessible. So most the time they might be okay, but not always. This video was our experience and decisions we made along the way given my mom’s limitations.
