How to Glue any Puzzle

5 жыл бұрынI think this the best way to glue a puzzle no matter what size it is and make sure that it won't fall apart with time. This will literally stay glued for years, I can guarantee from personal experience.

You say one can use "normal white glue", and not necessarily fanzy puzzle glue. What do you consider to be" normal white glue"? Would wood glue be a good option? Good job, btw! :)

Thank you! What I mean by normal white glue is crafts glue (like the one kids use in art class). I've never used wood glue before so I can't say if it would work. But I can recommend trying it on a small corner piece and see how it dries, if it dries clear then it should work on the entire puzzle. I hope that helps!

@@AccidentalAdult I already had some Mod Podge, and it was enough for the front side. I also wanted to use glue on the back side. I used some Gorilla Wood Glue (just coz that`s what I had available). That seemed to be a bit overkill, since it`s one of the most expensive wood glues, and it was a bit thick, which made me use a lot. The result was great though. For future projects, I have found some cheaper hobby glue that I think can work well. :)

@spmork elmers glue on the back works fine. With 2 coats it will be like a solid piece of cardboard.

OMG, you're so funny! I've been doing puzzles for decades & I'm about to glue my 1st one! I do have Master Pieces brand puzzle glue I'm going to use & I think I'll use that front & back, maybe next time I'll do lamination on the back. I was about to do this on top of a plastic bag, but I think I'll use the parchment paper instead. Glad to have stumbled on your video tonight!

Thanks so much. I've got the exact same one and I'm almost finished. Sadly my sky beached out where it was close to the window. I'm excited to finish and glue it as you said. I've already bought the puzzle glue, it wasn't too expensive. I'll make sure to try it out and see how it works.

Where & what kind of laminate did you use? I just completed an educa 2k piece pirate map and have only ever glued the back. Excellent concept and content. Liked because I feel your puzzle moxy/frustrations. Keep it up!

Back in the day I would just use masking tape on the back of puzzles and it was pretty much a permanent thing. Masking tape can dry up, though. I like the idea of being able to break the puzzle down and return it to the box, so I prefer not to glue it. I want to place three 16x20 puzzles in quality metal frames and not have the pieces drop to the bottom. The laminating sheets seem like the way to go. Do you think they'll hold the pieces together without the addition of gluing? Great video, by the way!

Awww thank you! Finished puzzles are easier to store because you can glue them and then put them anywhere. I usually store an unfinished puzzle under a carpet to get it out of the way. It shouldn't shift or break, at least in my experience nothing has happened to mine. The rest of the pieces I keep them in separate boxes to make sure they stay organized. I hope this helps!

I’ve never tried rolling up a puzzle, like you said I don’t trust it either😂 I’ve also split a puzzle on different cardboards and stacked them up on top of each other. Maybe that’s another option for you

I've also finished this puzzle!! ;) trying to glue it.I try a small square with a vinilic glue (vinavil) and it seems a little bit opaque comparing to the rest 'no glued' ... Any advices?

Good job on completing it! I googled the glue you’re using (cause I’ve never used it) and it looks like heavy duty glue, maybe that’s why it looks opaque? Or maybe it hasn’t fully dried yet? If it’s completely dry and still looks opaque, try crafts glue like the ones the kids use (that’s the kind of white glue I’ve always used and works with no issue).

Its easier to just use elmers glue on the back at most 2 coats. Then its a solid piece of cardboard.

That depends on your preference. When I framed this puzzle, it didn't really matter to me if the frame covered a bit of the edges. But there are also very thin frames that displays the entire puzzle if that's what you prefer. So it all depends on your aesthetic.

Hello, you can glue the same way the back side of the puzzle, but you have to be cautious to move it quickly so as to avoid the danger of having ruined the image of the puzzle

Thanks for your suggestion! I personally wouldn't do that. The stress of the glue seeping between the cracks and potentially ruining the image that I've spent hours of my life putting together is not worth it for me. But hey! if it works for you then great! You do you my friend!

@@AccidentalAdult it has worked for a 6000 puzzle, but i damaged another puzzle before because i was not expecting the glue to run through the already glued puzzle, you have to move it from the beggining so as not to get stucked. I like the idea of using this paper, is it baking paper?

White PVA glue works best, you need a glue that dries clear. Works on any size yes
