One of the few 40k games that truly understands the setting. It has its fair share of bugs and stuff but I would recommend for anyone who likes 40k

I knew nothing about the Warhammer 40k lore or what to expect from this game. It’s become one of my top 5 games of all-time now. Just started chapter 2, Iconoclast run. That fight against Aurora Space Marine was brutal!!!

Iconoclast and heretic are extremely difficult to get to max rep so make sure to only ever pick that path in every dialogue.

@@danielbob2628 I wouldn't have worded it like that, but I suppose when people who have nothing to do with 40k tries to change it to something it isn't then you might call it "cringe". Though our objections to Argenta romance was based on the lore, as it makes no damn sense, something most (If not all) of the mods and Admins also agreed with.

What makes this game truly special imo is the writing - it's not just your every day RPG writing, it's actual prose. You've got an almost interactive novel experience here. The prose throughout is superb and I highly commend the developers for going down this path rather than just the usual throwaway writing. And more - it's prose of a very high quality that's RICH in 40k detail. For people already familiar with 40k, it's the fluff of dreams. 40k fans love their detail and terminology and Rogue Trader has it in spades. Top job team - the Emperor protects!

So, with this I guess we have finished the trinity of "main character with any freedom" for 40k? Owlcat covered Rogue Trader(1), there's a game about Inquisitor(2) and Mechanicus game covers an expedition of ArchMagos(3). Pretty much everyone else is either subordinate to someone, bound to a desk or bound by duty. Even Guilliman. OwlCat, thank you for the game, but especially for beatiful worldbuilding. Wish there was a way to load up ingame interiors and walk through them in first person... though I guess absence of roof would look weird from the ground😅

Even those mentioned are doing so because of their beauty. It's just it leads them to various paths and decisions. Guilliman is of course much more free then them, then anyone, besides Empy sitting on hole out of love for humanity. I'd say some planet governors are as free as your trio. As well as big gang leaders. They've just tied to a planet/system.

Owlcat made an excellent 40k crpg here, top shelf. It had to compete with BG3 though and that's just not fair. I look forward to seeing what Owlcat does with the recent success in this genre and the lessons learned from Larian's BG3 success going forward. Anyone here because BG3 got you into these kinds of games, Rogue Trader is a must.

The praise is well deserved. Rogue Trader does the WH40K universe justice and tells a compelling story. Also, ship combat is way more fun than kingdom management in Kingmaker or tactical battles in Wrath of the Righteous -- Owlcat evolves.

Gaming entered an odd stage for me. Around late december to mid january, I passed Cyberpunk 2077 and its DLC expansion Phantom Liberty. The games multiple endings crushed me. Seeing how such a great game's story ended destroyed my will for gaming and I have not played videogames since. My desire to play games then took an even stronger hit becuase the current lineup of games is just getting worse, with all this Triple A slop that doesnt deserve the $60 price tag. I was just about to call it quits and keep myself busy with the already completed games I have in my inventory that predate Cyberpunk. But alas, the God Emperor of Mankind has blessed me with graces and reinvigored my gaming desires. I cast aside my memories as a chromed out edgerunner to explore the Galaxy as a Rogue Trader. In this new mission I travel the galaxy, trading goods, killing heretics and Xenos, and telling Abelard to introduce me whenever we meet new people. The life of a Rogue Trader is simply fit for me.

130 hours maybe on easy without save scumming 😂 wotr was alrdy a masterpiece and maybe the best crpg ever with the deepest and most satisfying class system, great story and characters, but you outdid yourself here (except for argenta maybe, she's a weird one (no, i'm not (only) talking about romancing options (jae best tho))), the 40k setting is just the icing on the cake for me, you also hit the mood of the franchise perfectly, kudos to you and thank you for that experience

Amazing game. I love 40k and this is one of the best 40k games ever. I wish it was easier to navigate character creation. I feel it’s almost necessary to use KZfaq guides to avoid nerfing my characters. I’d be much happier if I could just spam recommended level options and get a guaranteed mid character. Because the current recommendations seem ill optimized, missing out on cool abilities and nerfing my guys.

While im not a fan of modern day games Urinialists they got this one right. Love the game owlcat far more then your previous 2 which i have both. The combat is fun and fluid, the story is engaging and complete. Yes its a Owlcat game which means its Unity so theres bugs but you know what Im willing to deal with some bugs as you are not crashing my entire system with yours.

2 weeks ago I finished my run : 155 hours ; Iconoclast lvl 3 / Dogmatic lvl 2. It was awesome, can't wait to replay once the patch and DLC arrives ^^

The bugs are gradually being fixed. I own the game it is the opposite of Baldursgate 3, it's more serious and so beautifully dark and gothic. It's the Warhammer universe.

300h of game... was awsome, just sad the multiplayer is hard to manage els id have 500 more xD super story on basic rouge trader, a litle sad its not fully voiced in 2024 but awsome work
