The language of that memo is highly objectionable. It should say don't make up laws and learn the rules posted on the wall. Simple.

The man that served you was very pleasant and helpful. The people as a supervisor and postmaster failed and part of their position is to act professionally and pleasantly.

The stance of that letter is very us versus them. "Our" government making it clear that we know our place, because they dictate what we do.

"If there's a potential safety or security risk/...", the memo reads. An attack in a Post Office is more likely to come from behind the counter. According to Wikipedia, there have been 31 deadly incidents where Postal workers have, in the literal sense, "gone Postal", and have murdered many of their co-workers. Therefore, coworkers and customers are more at risk of being wounded or killed by Postal workers. A photo/video camera shoots, but it shoots pictures and videos, not bullets. Then, why is there so much paranoia, rejection and disrespect toward public photo/videographers by postal workers when there are so many security video cameras in US Post Offices?

it just dawned on me after months of watching these videos that one of our nation's greatest epidemics is lack of sense of humor.

The USPS was a joke twenty years ago, and it's still a joke today!

The memo mentions a lot of "don'ts" and is clearly anti-photography. What it fails to state is what the employees SHOULD do, and that is to reassure a customer who asks or complains that the post office rules allow photography for news purposes. All postal employees should be aware of that, and it should have been stated in the memo.

Is a copy of that memo available for download and copy. Seems like post officer auditors should carry copies.

Anyone that reads that inflammatory letter is likely to find it insulting and discriminatory to a group of Citizens. I wish some lawyer would write to PIS demanding an apology letter and more positive letter explaining the citizens have a constitutional right to be there. And no individuals "filming" have harmed anyone so the warning of concern for their safety is invalid and implies intimidation.

The only controversy is freshman high-school English sentence construction and grammar practice. It's funny she said that. growing up our mailman was called Shoop ( I kinda look like him) and he is the only mail carrier I know that didn't drive. He lived one block from the post office and his route was just under 1.5 miles

Auditors simply refuse to admit that there are any restrictions on photos in public areas of a post office. Poster 7 is quoted all the time, but only the part where photos ARE ALLOWED, never the "EXCEPTIONS". Postal employees are, without question, "authorized personnel". Here's the full text of P7 photo rules: "Photographs for news purposes may be taken in entrances, lobbies, foyers, corridors, or auditoriums when used for public meetings except where prohibited by official signs or Security Force personnel or other authorized personnel or a federal court order or rule. Other photographs may be taken only with the permission of the local Postmaster or installation head."
