honestly, i see vst instruments as an extension of physical instruments. if you're capable of recreating it perfectly, you can theoretically play the instrument. it's just an extension of ones self without needing to go through the hell of learning the instrument.

@@snesmocha Heavy emphasis on "theoretically". I have an actual xiao but even something as basic as making a sound with it is difficult and requires years to master. So far my attempts sound very very airy haha

airy sound gives more realism to the virtual instrument :)

@@hleet True, but I'm talking about a real instrument here and it sounds way too airy when I try to play. But it's a long-term project to learn!

@@hleet Yes. This bass dizi has somewhat fuller, rounder sound I would say (although the way you mix the different mics affects the timbre a lot). If I had to choose one it would probably be this but they're both equally good so it's just a matter of taste at this point. I think the two instruments are in the same "base" key but they extended the range of this bass dizi by several semitones by some means I don't know (pitch shifting? Recording extra samples with a larger dizi?) so this goes lower than the xiao, however I think it sounds the best when it plays in the natural range of a bass G dizi.

Thank you for the fast reply :) The Dadi seems more versatile (melodic oriented compared to xiao); I'm a beginner into theses kind of instruments, so maybe I'm wrong about it. Anyway, I can imagine myself playing melodies from the anime Naruto with this ! :D. I really love how the dadi sounds too, I'll give it a go

@@hleet Both can handle melodic lines (real xiao can actually play more scales without half holing than a dizi can) so it's more a matter of which sound you prefer.
