I saw him July 9 in Ridgefield. He played Rocket Ride early in the show. Three songs later he starts playing it again and stops after 15 seconds. He says “you drive the car until the wheels fall off”. There were at least two other songs where he was playing in the wrong key. He knows his playing is subpar and doesn’t care about it. I don’t care what his problems are, you do not treat your audience like that!

This is so sad. There is obviously something going on with Ace, he is going downhill again very fast. He's known to pop pills - if he's not boozing, he's obviously doing something to slow him down like this. This is 90s-level incoherence.

Saw him months before this twice and he was right on. Something has happened to him as of late.

The Ace Frehley solo album was the best of the four.

Every freaking time I watch Ace on youtube I go custom speed and set it at 1.25 and he sounds normal. Try it

Did you see the fan holding up the giant sign saying "Can I sing Crazy Crazy nights?" At the Glasglow show? Crowd cheering them on and Paul was like nope, no you can sing it we won't play it. Seemed like the crowd would have been into it. No spontaneity in a Kiss show!

It looks like early onset dementia or Parkinson's. My Grandpa (died of natural causes) had those conditions and he started acting like Ace here before he developed Parkinson's. Weird joints, mild slurring of words, forgetting things, but still well enough to do daily things.

I saw him one year ago and it was a great show. People were saying stuff about poor performances and all that leading up to it, but I didn't notice anything too significant that particular night. I'm glad I went.

To all the people with negative comments & jokes walk a mile in someone's shoes before you give your opinion. Your life story has yet to be fully write along with your families. You never know who in your family might get addicted. I'd be very careful with your words things have a way of touching those who like to criticize others. You have no idea if Ace has something going on or it's booze or pills. There are many types of addiction & they are a life long battle. Sometimes people relapse. Instead thank God for what he has given & helped you & your family with. Thank Ace for the music he gave all of us & be thankful he's still around. Music made these days suck with the exception of old school rockers in their 70s & 80s.

With all that Ace does lately -, the bad playing, bad performances (his tired mind forgetting notes and lyrics), and the whole "Thats just Ace is just being Ace" stuff...i still love him for what he was to a teenage boy; all of the things he did for me as a kid to make me forget my miserable childhood..Nothing he does now can ever erase those fond 70s memories....and I am another guitar player that can thank him for inspiring me to learn to play....

Ace is iconic, but these guys aren't getting any younger. I don't think he's drinking again, or doing any drugs, I think he's just getting older and is experiencing the early signs of something like dementia or something like that

Good advertisement for not doing hard drugs/drinking quite as hard as these guys did. Not to be too morbid, but I've lost many friends in music to drugs. Some survive but remain damaged, rarely, some have the most ridiculous tolerance and end up fine even though they shouldn't. I wouldn't be surprised if Ace is still sober, imagine the excess + how long it lasted, add to that the fact that Ace has always been a space cadet anyway, add to that the rigours of the road and getting old.. Maybe time to retire, at least from touring. He's very obviously not bothering to practice anymore. I'd struggle to stay at one of his shows. I'm a fan of his, too. But he's practically given up. Just bluffing his way through.. It'd be cool for the novelty of seeing Ace. But the lack of effort isn't an incentive to go see him play. Actually, actively the opposite.

I just laugh when he says he's been sober for 17 years. Swear to God on my mother's grave this is true here. I met him at Chiller Theater in 2012 in New Jersey. He was acting disoriented. Maybe low blood sugar? Or maybe just high,I dont know. He signed his biography I bought,asked me what to write. I said Can you sign it Markis,from the 2000 man. He looks at me confused and goes 2000 Man? I said yeah,I love when you sang that song from Dynasty. I did? Oh.... After signing he got up,two of his security guys said that was enough, Ace will be back later. He did this right when there were 3 people left behind me,two girls and I think a boyfriend to one of them. Didn't matter to Ace, they just up and walked out that quickly. Maybe he needed something really bad. And like that,he was gone. The weirdest celebrity encounter I've ever had. I still love the guy,his records are great but man I will always have that crazy book signing encounter in my head. I cant complain too much I guess. I got to meet Gary Cherone in 1992 and Oh My God,coolest MFing celebrity I ever met. But Ace...yeah that was a weird one. LOL
