I wish I could agree. Ace had his problems, but Gene and Paul were steering the band away from their hard rock roots into disco-pop and concept album crap. They played a big part in driving Ace away. Had they listened to Ace and made Creatures-like albums instead of the shitty trifecta of Dynasty-Unmasked-Elder, they could have been epic in the 80s, as you say. Cheers!

Secondly, a sober disciplined Ace could have had more influence in KISS Paul an Gene would have taken his opinion more serious. But Ace withdrew totally into his addiction and let KISS down. I think, Paul will blame him forever. Rightly so.

Peter gave KISS there highest charting top selling 'Hit song' "Beth" which helped them & their popularity bigtime. Paul tried several times to write & co-write a hit song all throughout the 80's and he tried to follow the likes of Bon Jovi , Def Lepard & Aerosmith as they huge , successful & all had hit song 1 sfter another in the 80's ..Pauls solo album 'Live to Win' sucks balls ...I think it sucks so bad I had to force myself thru the 1st listen ...Ace has had the best Solo career & his solo album in 78' was the best one & top selling one. Paul isn't known for inspiring people to pick up & play guitar ..Ace is , Ace will be remebeed as an iconic guitar hero Not Paul ! Ace is admired by countless musicians & other famous guitar players ..Ace has a signature style & sound ..Paul knows Ace is still voted the favorite member of 'KISS' & btw paul begged Ace not to leave in 1982 & Gen & him begged him to stay & asked him to come back after he left in 2002. They continue to bash Ace & Peter because they were the true rock-stars in 'KISS' Paul used to be to an extent but later he became like Gene ..a business man. Ace & Peter lived the rock & roll life style just like Page, Clapton, Tyler , Perry, Jagger & Richards , Hendrix, Morrison, Bonham, Bon Scott, etc X1000 ...they only do that because they have to make an excuse as to why they have 2 scabs wearing there 'once 'sacred' make-up & costumes as they continue to Tour year afte year to milk the fans with a subpar performance loaded with more explosions & fireworks to take the focus off the lame & lazy stage presence by 2 guys who cant even sing anymore ..Pauls voice has been shot since 2009 ...he croaks 7 sounds like he is gargling razae blades today ...hypocrite Paul Stanley !! Ace left in 2002 when the Farewell Tour was finished ..it was suppose to be the Farwell Tour to end all eras of KISS and go out on top instead Gene & Paul who swore to the fans that this was the last time you would see them play as KISS said they were finished but the following year they went out & opened for Aerosmith ..yes they opened for Aerosmith ..Steven Tyler & the boys said there was no way KISS with only 2 original members was going to headline or co-headline as Aerosmith had all 5 original members but KISS 2/4 & that makes them a 1/2 Tribute band and they still are as they have 2 guys up there impersonating Ace Frehely & Peter Criss. They are hired hands , nothing more ..told how to look , how to pose , how to play, what to play , what to say , when to talk , when to talk ...etc sad that tommy & Eric will only be remembered for playing Ace & Peter in KISS2.0 tribute band that plays 80% of the tunes from th eotiginal lone-up & doesn't even play 1 song off there last to albums which Paul & gene claimed were there best albums since Revenge or Destroyer ...blah'blah''b.s. !! btw Paul liked to hang around with Ace & Peter in the 70's ...lots of history & stories out there but Paul now says they were never friends ..what a liar !! Attention seeking behavior as any publicity is good publicity they say. They are always promoting a new product so they have to stay in the media and its usually one of them saying something negative about past or ex members. They don't care about the fans ..just there wallets as they have Football Team , Rock & Brews restaurant , Hello Kitty bags or purses to sell along with KISS Kondoms & KISS Coffins & new books & remasters of old albums being re-released as they don't care to make or focus on a new album. Just like Psycho Circus was a sham .. they lied to us fans !! one of many more to come, they do short sets today , have to co-headline with other big names in order to get the audience in numbers. The biggest rip is that Paul can no longer sing ...its embarrassing !!! its sad as he used to be a great singer but all things including your voice come to an end just as its happened to Plant , Tyler , Coverdale , Ozzy , halford & others but unlike others who still can do it good ..Pauls basically speaks the verses & Eric singr & the othes sing all the chorus's + they tune down 1/2 a sep to accommodate Pauls tragic sad voice and as a result it no longer sounds like KISS ...but they are marketing & catering to the curious casuals & the newbies today as me & countless ol die-hard fans cant stand to see them anymore as they are a shells of there former selves & are disgracing the KISS Legacy as they continue to milk it for every last dollar ..as its all about the fireworks today ...most people who go see them go for the show & don't even know the tunes they play except a few & with all the sensory overload they cant usually tell how bad they sound ..especially Paul & because they don't know what KISS sounded like when they were good ...I saw them last year & I was 15rows back & wished I was farther back ..the big screans work against them also ..because you can see there wrinkles thru the make-up as they're magnified in size on the big screens plus there is so much going on at any given minute that you aren't really paying attention to the fact Paul sounds awful & Gene & him barely move on stage anymore ...pathetic !! sad but true its all about $$$KISS$$$BRAND$$$KISS

***** Ok, now that you have gone on your little tirade, allow me to say a few things to you.....first off, you really need to learn proper grammar and spelling if you want anyone to take you seriously. To be honest, you made some good points, but let me correct you on a few things. First, the tour with Aerosmith was actually done because Tyler was deep in debt at the time due to his relapse into drugs. Secondly, half the tour was Aerosmith opening, half of it was KISS opening. I KNOW this for a fact as I went to 15 shows on the tour. Also, it wasn't half the original band, it was 3/4 as Peter was still the drummer at the time. Now, any true KISS fan knew the very first time they heard Psycho Circus that it wasn't Ace and Peter playing. But guess what......they got paid as if they DID play, so your argument there goes right out the window. To be completely honest, I would rather have the reputation of sleeping with thousands of chicks rather than the reputation of being a drug addict. But that's just my taste. Women are MY drug. As far as the marketing goes, everyone wants to blame Gene, who IS a marketing whore. However, most of what HE tries to market, fails miserably. The success in KISS marketing actually comes from a marketing team who knows how to sell the product. For instance, the coffin and the condoms were Genes idea. Notice you cant purchase them anymore? Now, the Rock & Brews restaurants are a huge success because of the people they have telling them what works and what doesn't. Now on the Eric and Tommy front, I will say this. Eric is still a great drummer and deserves his spot in the band. To be honest, I don't like Tommy at all and it isn't because he is wearing Aces former makeup. Its because he is a boring player and a grade A douchebag to boot. Yes, I agree that Paul doesn't have a voice anymore. No argument there. In my opinion, all the original members should stop performing as none of them really have it in them anymore. I prefer to listen to the albums anyway.

***** Absoluetly agree man, As you listed these vocalists who lost their voices, there's I guess one who still is in a fantastic shape - Glenn Hughes. He's over 60, but has still powerful voice like he used to have when he was 20. :P Can't believe it, but that's true when you hear his later albums or even California Breed album. He's kept this condition for years so far through 70s, 80s and till today. This guy is amazing!

Well, like Ace said from his own mouth, they were pals on stage, but after the concert or show Paul would disappear and who knows what he was doing. Ace and Gene were better friends than Paul was with Ace. Gene and Ace bunked up together in hotels and such on the road. Ace couldn't get along with Paul very well. Both Gene and Paul were very straight, while Ace and Peter were into the rocknroll lifestyle. Gene could tolerate more than Paul could, and so that's how it was. Paul was all show, and didn't live it.
