"Don't turn around" is another great song of Ace of Base, along with "Beautiful Life" and "All that she wants" Another group you might like to check out is ATC (A Touch of Class). To me, they were like the early 2000's version of Ace of Base... That's just me, tho. Their song "Around the World" is straight up 🔥! Just a recommendation for y'all.

Ace of Base is a Swedish pop group, formed in 1990, originally consisting of siblings Jonas, Linn and Jenny Berggren, with Ulf Ekberg. They achieved worldwide success following the release of their debut album Happy Nation in 1992. Later re-issued as The Sign, it was certified nine times platinum in the United States[6] and was the best-selling album of 1994. One of the most successful debut albums of all time, it was the first to produce three No. 1 singles on the Billboard Mainstream Top 40 chart: "All That She Wants", "The Sign" and "Don't Turn Around". They continued to score hit singles throughout the 1990s, with songs such as "Beautiful Life", "Lucky Love", "Cruel Summer" and "Life Is a Flower". By 2002, they had sold a total of 30 million copies of their first four studio albums, making them the third most successful Swedish group of all time, behind ABBA and Roxette. Despite being largely inactive since 2012, the group has never officially disbanded. In the last decade, they have released a number of demo tracks, first via their Facebook page, then in 2015 on the compilation album Hidden Gems. An expanded two-disc edition was included in the 2020 boxset All That She Wants: The Classic Collection. Jenny Berggren continues to perform the group's hits in solo concerts around the world.

For female Fridays you should check out The Corrs. They're an Irish family band made up of one guy and his three younger sisters. The youngest, Andrea Corr is the lead singer. They had some really good songs like "breathless", "Runaway", "Irresistible", "What Can I Do", "Would You Be Happier". But if you really want to hear something different, check out them performing "Toss The Feathers", it's traditional Irish music.

Can't believe this song is almost 30 years old!! Probably the most successful female-led band to come out of Sweden this side of ABBA. The singers names were Jenny and Linn Berggren, who were sisters. Their brother, Jonas, was also in the band. The fourth member was Ulf Ekberg. "Happy Nation" and "The Sign" were two of the biggest albums of 1992-93, and they spawned a ton of hits - "All That She Wants" was their breakout hit, and should be your next one. They also had "Don't Turn Around", "Beautiful Life", "Living in Danger", and "Lucky Love". They also did a cover of Bananarama's awesome 80's song "Cruel Summer". You should do BOTH versions of that one!

Ace of Base was a Swedish Pop group that reminded us all of ABBA. But they disappeared & stopped making music. I'm not sure if they're making any new music here lately. They all have strong Swedish accents & they had very popular music.

This is a 90's group and song. I remember hearing it on the radio all the time. Now that we are in the 90's how about reaction to one of the boy bands of that decade. You should listen to The Backstreet Boys and their mega hit I Want It That Way. I was in my forties when the song came out and I absolutely love it.

This band was often criticized as an ABBA ripoff or copy, but they had their own place in pop music.

ABBA was more europop, Ace of Base was more dance pop or pop dance. ABBA had members who played instruments, I don't believe any Ace of Base members played anything, aside from maybe keyboards or synths.

Bobby, ABBA wasn't like disco. They had members play guitar and piano. Yeah it may have had a dance beat, but it was different from disco. Ace of Base you could hear the dance influence more than ABBA did 15-20 years prior.

@@matthewdrake4385 Plenty of bands that played instruments still made Disco. Disco is not defined by electronic instrumentation. Rolling Stones, Blondie, ABBA, all bands that played instruments, Disco was everywhere at one time, and most of the bands were actual musicians. Your assumption is incorrect.

The hand percussion instrument is a very ancient type of drum typically used in music from the Middle East ( Egypt , up through and into what was once mesopotamia) called a Djoumbek. I have 2 of them. It's basically a hollow tube that flares out at the top with the drumhead stretched across it really tight. Like stupid tight ! That's why even though it's a hand percussion it almost has a metallic quality to the sound. Like I said I have 2 , one is 10 inches tall x 10 inch circumference. The big one is same type of measurement but the magic number is 13.

Ace of Base was from Sweden and had Abba's configuration - pop group w/ 2 girls, 2 guys... The girls and 1 guy were siblings (Linn & Jenny Berggren, Jonas Berggren) w/ Ulf Ekberg. Ace of Base was huge between 1992 to 1994, their first album 'The Sign' sported a few hits - "Don't turn around" ... 'Happy nation' ... 'All that she wants' ... 'Living in danger'. 2nd album 'The Bridge' in 1995 did OK w/ singles 'Beautiful life' ... 'Lucky love' ... "Never gonna say I'm sorry". Ace of Base diminished in popularity in 1998 w/ their 3rd album 'Cruel summer'... The group parted ways after 2000.

I wasn't huge into rap (I did like some), but I really loved BASS. This is not just a band name. There music is engineered to THUMP in a car with big woofers. I used to rattle the cups in the drive through from the other side of the parking lot with this song.
