Wasn't my introduction to Motorhead but it certainly makes me think of the 'University Challenge' episode (think it was called Bambi) of the Young Ones. The whole train station skit was funny as f*ck at the time. Tried watching some recently though and it hasn't dated well. Do still really enjoy the 'Nasty' episode with The Damned playing though.

I've never, ever heard of anyone who interacted with Lemmy coming away with anything but a glowing description of the guy, which is just so cool. Plus, he was super-tight with Dave Grohl, which basically makes him a saint in my books. Lemmy and Grohl are up there with, like, Terry Crews and Dave Bautista as living proof that being a badass is not the same thing as being an asshole.

John, that's the one. I caught it in Chicago (one of the suburbs). I did make it out to the Bay Area a few years later. I got to see Satriani in Oakland, and drove to Sacramento to see Rush, and later, Van Hagar. The only time I remember going to Mountain View was for an airshow at Moffett Field. It was billed as "the last airshow." That was mid 90's when they were shutting down a bunch of bases in California and Moffett got the axe.

I had to listen to the song again just to be clear, researched it, and I'm 100% sure that there is a bass riff in the beginning, that was AWESOME!!!!! I heard the bass throughout the rest of the song and he was on FIRE!!!! I like how the drummer changed things up in the middle with that pause and I love the juicy guitar solo, incredible!!! The intensity and how your blood kicks in while listening to this song is just unreal, and I've wanted to check out Motörhead since I heard about them two weeks ago in a documentary about 80s hair metal, so I'm glad I was able to check them out through this channel. I will definitely be checking them out again, I wasn't too crazy about the lyrics, but I still think it's a great song! With that being said, great reaction video and have a great day Andy and Alex! :)

Now you're ready to launch into space with Lemmy's pre-Motorhead band HAWKWIND (they kicked him out for getting busted at the border with drugs). Whatever you consider 70's prog rock to be, Rush is at one end of that spectrum and Hawkwind is at the opposite end. "Master Of The Universe", "Brainstorm", "You'd Better Believe It" and many, many other soundtrack jams for missions to the center of your mind.

My very first album was Motorhead's "No Sleep 'til Hammersmith", a live album from 1981. The rendition of their song "Bomber" is one of my favourites, played at a significantly higher tempo than the studio version. It used to get me pumped up when I was a bare-chested, leather-and-spikes clad bare knuckle fighter (locally known as "Creeping Death" lol). Made me feel like I could deflect bullets. I also recommend their self-titled track i.e "Motorhead" obviously, or "Overkill".

That was the Classic MoToRhEaD lineup with Lemmy Kilmister (bass) and yes that was a bass-driven intro philthy Phil Taylor (drums) and Fast Eddie Clarke on Guitar. Unfortunately, Motorhead is no more, they have all died. There were several incarnations of the band with Lemmy being the glue that held it all together. Some other song suggestions that are BANGERS would be "Eat the Rich" "Killed by Death" "One More Fucking Time" "Stone Dead Forever"

Note: the entire lineup that recorded this song (Lemmy: vocals and bass; Fast Eddie Clarke: guitar; and Philthy Phil Taylor: drums) have all passed away. This was the classic lineup of the band. They are now nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Extra note: Lemmy formed Motorhead after leaving the space rock group Hawkwind, which was a heavy, spacey, psychedelic band.

Classic live album, Lemmy's playing bass like a rhythm guitar. Overkill and Metropolis are awesome too, especially live and that album has the ultimate versions.

I remember seeing Motorhead in the early 90's in San Francisco. One of the loudest bands I ever heard (Ministry was probably the loudest). Also, the audience was full of punks and bikers, and everyone was having a great time together. Such a fun band to see live. If you want some more bangers, give Ministry a chance. Heavy, heavy, heavy music. Bangers unite!

A Lemmu quote that blew my mind, "I remember when there was no rocknroll", he was old enough to recall a time before acts like Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Elvis, but he was a fan of all of them

Great concert! I saw them open for Slayer, in the late 80's. Lemmy was literally right in front of me., singing. "And that's the way I like it baby, I don't want to live forever!"..

Motorhead was the band I listened to most when I was about your age. I've been tempted to suggest them but wasn't sure you would like them. My mistake! I would recommend 'Overkill' for your next Motorhead song and maybe check out Lemmy's previous band, Hawkwind for some psychedelic, space craziness. 😎

hank the handkerchief Yeah, they do. Bomber kicks ass, Metropolis kicks ass, Stay Clean kicks ass, Iron Fist kicks ass, Go to Hell kicks ass, Jailbait kicks ass, Killed by Death kicks ass etc. etc. I think this song is a great introduction to the band & exactly who they are, but they have lots of songs just as good as Ace of Spades..
