@@maccrazy7335 That is so cool man. I FINALLY got to see them thank God in 2008, before Lemmy became ill. Metal Masters tour, outdoors, Jones Beach NY. They opened for the freshly re-united ‘Heaven and Hell’ with a still healthy Dio, and Judas Priest still with Kk and Glen. Don’t remember how, but I scored 9th row seats, right side of the stage, in front of Lemmy AND Iommi..!!! I’d seen Priest (love em) seen Sabbath (same), but Sabbath with DIO, Motörhead!?!? This was bucket list shit, God just let me see the show,,THEN kill me, I’ll die happy. Back to what you said; Lemmy struts onstage, long, tall, ugly and confident as shit. Quick to the mic “We are MOTOR HEAD! And we play Rock and Roll...” Explodes BAM! Into ‘Dr. Rock’. Fast hard and loud. Few songs in, “Philthy” Phil, real calm and cool.., “Is is too loud for ya down in front here? Good, ‘cause it’s gonna keep gettin’ louder.” End of show; now the place is going nuts.., Lemmy, this time he shouts it out real LOUD and angry.., “We.., are Motörhead! And we play fuckin’ Rock ‘n’ Roll!!!” EXPLODES into Overkill. The song never really ‘ended’..., it was all just so much noise. When Lemmy had enough..., he walked to his massive bass amp rig stacked up behind him. Like a sadist he turns up the level knobs on all the amps, turns up the levels on his customized monster Ricky bass, unstraps tge guitar and leans it up against the amp. The feedback squeal was deafening and obnoxious. You look around realizing that you can’t even hear the crowd still roaring, due to the insane volume level of Lemmy’s bass amp cooking, screaming for it’s life. No blowing kisses to the audience, the band just walked off. I turned my head and missed it. The amp squeals and screams for another minute or so till a roadie finally comes out on stage, cuts the power to the tortured amplifier and retrieve’s Lemmy’s bass. Now the crowd’s sorta quiet and hushed. Everyone’s looking around dealing with that isolated feeling that comes with temporary loss of hearing. That ‘did you just see that?’ look after witnessing something great and terrible. I’ve been to 100’s of rock concerts starting in the early 80’s, this one is a top 3. I knew that I was witnessing greatness. And I was finally old enough to know that nothing lasts forever. I was right, both Lemmy and Dio are gone now, sad. GREAT memories though.

The reason why you never heard it is it was never a radio song. It was a word of mouth band. Just like Iron Maiden they became huge without radio play Unless you were listening a metal centric show like The Metal Shop that used to be on WYSP back in the day

not true, Ace of Spades was blasted all over the radio in its heyday. same with Iron Maiden! if you listen to ANY rock station in the 80's Iron Maiden was on there all the freaking time. Not sure where you are basing you information, but it is 100% wrong.

@@orion7741 What stations did you listen to ? In Philly the major stations WMMR 93.3 and WYSP 94.1 and WZZO 95.1 in Allentown were the rock stations of note. Only ZZO played a decent amount of metal in the late 70s and early 80s. Motorhead and Iron Maiden get more airplay NOW then they ever did back then .

Next Motorhead? i like ''Eat the rich'', ''The chase is better than the catch'' and ''Bomber''. Oh, for anyone that ever followed the WWE, Motorhead were the ones singing the HHH song ''the game''. :) Lemmy sadly passed away in 2015. I saw Motorhead about 2 months before his death, and even if he looked like he couldn't move at all on stage and was very thin, they were just freaking awesome.

A little anecdote from Lemmy: He once invited some friends to his house. He leaves for a moment and comes back with a bottle of whiskey and hands it to one of them. This friend thought it was to share with others. And Lemmy stops him and says: This is just for you. Now I bring more bottles for each of the others. Rest in peace, Lemmy.

It was great seeing your unfiltered emotion and joy. Brought me back to the times I was hearing Motorhead for the first time, spent the next few years listening to 70% of their huge music catalog non-stop, back to back for hours. You said it made you feel happy, and I realize almost every comment is a suggestion to listen to something and this will likely get lost in the shuffle - but if you get a chance to check out "Motorhead - Back at the Funny Farm", this might give you the time of your life. Music is all I care for, I listen to all kinds and a lot, from harsh noise to Miles Davis to Lana Del Rey to Discharge, but "Back at the Funny Farm" is a uniquely elevating experience, even almost 20 years after I first heard it.

Great reaction to one of the most iconic Rock/Metal songs. While he always looked a bit mean, he was one of the nicest persons you can imagine. Motörhead wrote so many great songs, with intelligent lyricy, and they did not fade with the time, actually in their newer albums there are many of my favourites. I would recommend following songs: - "In the name of tragedy": a very heavy song from 2004 - "I ain´t no nice guy after all": a very nice ballad, sung together with Ozzy Osbourne - "Orgasmatron": a slow, brute song with great lyrics - "Whiplash": a cover from the Metallica song. And if Motörhead covers a song, it is not only a cover, they usually make it even better

I'm sure you'll get lots of Motorhead suggestions so I'm going to go a slightly different route. The guitar player here is Fast Eddie Clarke who would go on to play in a band called Fastway. *Guys here is the skinny on this* Having lived thru that time and as I told Ethan in a prior comment, being a touring musician at the time, here is the significance of this aside from it being a Banger.!!! 1) I can tell you from personal experience that at this is a stone cold fact, *Punk and Rock Fans DID NOT MIX* !!!!! *But* ......... Motorhead was ALMOST the one exception.! Think walking into a punk show wearing a Motorhead T-Shirt and NOT getting your butt beat.! 2) Motorhead got their name because they were speed freaks, as in Meth, sorry to say but true.! Motorhead was a slang used for Meth heads back in the day. 3) Lemmy, { R.I.P. } was the driving force and constant for this band and was a HUGE influence on people such as Slash, Metallica, Megadeth, etc. It was called *Speed Metal* When Metallica first started out 4) Lemmy was a notorious video gaming freak who hung out an lived by *The Rainbow Room* in L.A. All musicians, huge and not so huge use to hang out there and Lemmy was a fixture there.! OK..... that gives you the background....... I'm going to put 3 requests here and I'm not sure if you've reacted to any of these but I have to start somewhere.! If you have a chance, try reacting to these..... A) Led Zeppelin *Dazed and Confused* STUDIO VERSION off Led Zeppelin 1 B) Aerosmith *Train kept a rollin* C) The Allman Brothers *Whipping Post* Love what you 2 do..... David .....

They also did a few cover versions - Please Don't Touch(with Girlschool) - a Johnny Kidd and The Pirates song which truly is a classic track! Beer Drinkers And Hell Raisers by ZZ Top And the classic Tammy Wynette's C&W standard Stand By Your Man where Lemmy duetted with Wendy O'Williams!!! First order of business was to launch an immediate investigation into why Father has not heard this song before. I believe I may have the answer. Motörhead didn't score anything on Billboard in the US of A until 1982, and Ace of Spades was a hit in the UK at #13 in 1980. The band was formed in Stoke On Trent (in The Potteries of the English Midlands - about 50 miles north of Birmingham) in 1975. Their biggest Billboard hits were in 2013-15, so I guess they've built up a cult following with US fans of the British rock scene over the years perhaps. I don't really know any of their other songs so I have no recommendations. They're mostly known for Ace Of Spades I think. Classic number in anybody's book.

@@lisamorrison2149 - this didn't make Billboard at all, and the ones that did from '82 onwards were in the very lowest reaches of the chart. Someone just posted that they got little airplay. Maybe it's got more airplay since it became a classic by word of mouth.

Actually what you really should watch (and I’m leaving the link so no excuses lol) Motörhead doing a cover of Chuck Berry’s ‘Let It Rock’ live, 1991 on the David Letterman Show. C’mon Larry.. Let it Rock..? Chuck Berry...? Lol, Ok it’s pretty much Johnny B. Goode only better. Short (under 4 minutes) video. GOTTA see it Guys. In 3-1/2 short minutes you will see, hear and feel everything you need to know about just how great these guys really were at playing straight up ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll’. I think Motörhead gave their drummer the night off here relying on the available talent in Letterman’s house band, the legendary drummer Anton Fig. So you get 2/3 of Motörhead, Lemmy on bass and vocals, Phil Campbell on lead guitar, backed up by Letterman’s great house band led by Paul Schafer on piano and keys. And they get down and absolutely rock it. Late night ‘coffee before bed’ tv, no one but Motörhead fans have a clue who Motörhead are. Most bands appearing on this show would ‘turn down’ appropriately for the tiny 500 seat ‘Ed Sullivan CBS Theatre’ Motörhead show up with their Marshall FULL STACK Amps! And turn em up to ‘11’. Because Motörhead, play, Rock ‘n’ Roll. Anyone who was in the theatre that night is probably still suffering hearing issues. They walk onstage ugly, mean and dirty. They say nothing. They turn up and they play, fast and LOUD. Because that’s what they do. They’re playing for themselves and for all their fans that aren’t there. Instead of playing a Motörhead song, which no one except for Motörhead fans will know, they play a Chuck Berry song. Chuck Berry, the ‘inventor’ of rock ‘n’ roll, everyone in the world knows Chuck Berry. But, Johnny B. Goode would be a cop-out. Instead they choose a fiercer C. Berry tune. Something only ‘real’ Chuck Berry fans will know. In 3-1/2 short minutes they absolutely blow the roof off the place, leaving all who witnessed deaf, dumb and blind. “Who was that..., what song was that..?” Motörhead - They played Rock And Roll. HooHoo..., was I too brief? Hey you started it by bringing up Motörhead lol. Jokes aside; They really were THAT GOOD. Hope you two get around to watching this, best wishes, here’s the link. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rtupZJee3tK8cmg.html

Man, read your comment and checked it out, lifelong Motorhead fan but never saw it before - and that just my day instantly better. Incredible performance, and I love those recordings where you can just physicallly feel the pressure of incredibly high volume - especially remarkable here since I'm sure the dude at the mixing desk did everything he could to mellow it out for the TV broadcast

@@SoreEater Glad I was able to help you find it! Yeah, it’s so good that when I watch it I usually wind up ‘re’- watching it at least 4 or 5 times. Great Chuck Berry lyrics about how the crew working on the RR tracks decide to f*** off, mess around, smoke cigarettes and play cards while the foreman is off collecting up their paychecks... then uh-oh, no one was paying attention- got a high steppin’ train coming, 2 miles out- clear the tracks!! What a great (typical) Motörhead performance. Can imagine the rehearsal with the ‘Late Night’ band. Chuck Berry, “yeah that’s easy, we all know that one”..., “OK, key of B, turn up loud, try and keep up....” The ‘Late Night’ band KILLS IT, probably thrilled to be ‘forced’ to let loose like that. And you’re 100% right.., whoever the engineer was that did the mix that ended up coming through our little “TV set” speakers did a phenomenal job, nice and clear. Motörhead is pure rock and roll, keep spreading the word. Thx and best wishes✌️

Try reacting to "gotta keep running" by the Godz. I know im not a pay-per-view customer but you would really love the song. You would actually be doing yourselves and those who dont know the song a favor by playing it. I wouldnt recommend it if ot wasnt a good rock n roll anthem. Rock on and God bless you.
