I was 11 years old when this series started and I watched all of the episodes. After 47 years I've been humming the theme tune, note perfect for no good reason, so looked it up here. Ah, my first inroads to the weird and wunnerful, those were the days!

Was 15 when this series started, remember it well. The music stayed with me and so did the characters. Watched the actors as they progressed in their careers. Their names stay with me even Ozymandius who was only an owl!.

Oh by the way here's the lyrics for all to enjoy!Jet white dove, Snow black snake, Time has turned it's face, From the edge of mystery, Where running is no race. Ageless night, Careless day, Fate reaches out a hand, To touch the edge of destiny, A story with no end. Tarot cards, Tarot the diamond man, Tarot guards, Wherever he can. Tarot cards, Tarot the diamond man, Tarot guards with mystic hands. Falcon sun, Leopard moon, Minds searching for tomorrow, Take what you can from yesterday, The rest beg, steal, or borrow. Iron roads, Asphalt sky, Windows made from water, Son of secrets - mystery's child, Ruler of eight quarters. Velvet roofs, Tattooed streets, Patterns made from words, Laughter echoes in the dark, Life hovers like a bird. Tarot cards, Tarot the diamond man, Tarot guards, Wherever he can. Tarot cards, Tarot the diamond man, Tarot guards with mystic hands. Tarot cards, Tarot the diamond man, Tarot guards, Wherever he can. Tarot cards, Tarot the diamond man, Tarot guards with mystic hands.

Hi again David (i'm back after a few years, unfortunately not the same about Tarot) Hope you are Ok. Just like to stick up for you (nb Dave Barnes) I was going to do it then; Just to let Dave know that when the teacher did the school register, he would have spelt Mark with a 'K' and at every birthday MARK Feld aka Bolan Mummy Bolan would have given him his birth spelling on his cards. So you were right. Marc with a ç'is an affectation!

Fantastic theme to a great programme that I loved as a nipper. Andrew Bown, of course, had previously been the organist with late sixties pop band, The Herd, and later went on to play with Status Quo for many years...

I never realised this was here - my all time personal favourite programme when I was a kid. I sent it up to that Sunday radio show that a certain Liverpool darg artist does to be played. It got absolutely lambasted! I was a big Bowie fan later - but never put the two together. This could have been on Space oddity or Dory? Bit of Donovan in there -wonder what Michael MacKenzie's does nowadays? - thanks for putting this together, shedding a little tear for past times and long lost pleasures, ah innocence.

Michael MacKenzie is still acting as far as I know. He was in the film 'The Railway Man' as his most recent big screen work that I am aware of [and that released in 2013] but is still active as an actor.

David, if you still need to record audio from KZfaq, try Audacity at www.audacityteam.org/ It's a neat tool which you can use to record any sounds from KZfaq, Spotify etc.

Thriddoctor - your comment of 4 years gone - you shall have your remake. I'm going away to write it and cast my Lulli. Wonder what we were all on to hold this in such high regard? It's before sweets were recognised to have additives??? thought he was a sort of Mark Bolan meets Dr Who. Didn't he drive an MG sports around Soho?? One of my non animation heroes. Godbless the production team and saint Michael in the role!!! Really hooked on it now.

We've got to sell it to an independent production company to remake the series. Update the screenplays for a more modern audience whilst keeping the basis and characters. Contact Michael MacKenzie for a cameo, then take it to cinema. Not complete rebranding though! Keep it British. It's too good to die. :)
@SteveChiverton3 жыл бұрын
Actually, do you know what I think, if you really want to get this re-made? Write to Jonathan Ross to start up a campaign. After all his wife Jane Goldman now has a lot of 'clout' when it comes to getting things made in Hollywood [the KickAss movies, the Kingsman movies, X-Men First Class, the Game of Thrones prequel series 'The long night' currently in production - she has scripted/devised them all] and 'Wossy' is a total nerdy pop culture fanatic that would be surely into this. Now if Jane can get HOLLYWOOD wheels moving I can't see her having much difficulty getting an indy British project off the ground. Could be worth a pump as you are clearly passionate about this. Drop them a line and give it a go. You never know.
@Davmicon3 жыл бұрын
@@SteveChiverton Thank you for your help. What is it you do? As you appear to know a little bit. Are you a fan? I'm just seeing a lot of trends both for nostalgia as well as content like this which I feel are worth reviving? I see things like "Killing Eve" a never ending franchise where the 'baddie' can't be destroyed and keeps coming up with the varied stock ways of being sadistic and think 'Hey this is cartoony' (never watched one through but it doesn't hold me' and it has quite a big national audience.

Hey Davmicon - you mentioned Mark Bolan....can you remember waaaay back when he was with Tyrannosaurus Rex(before T-Rex) they had a hit that I remember was on Top of the Pops there was almost no lyrics, they were dressed as cave men, or am I imagining this all?
@Davmicon8 жыл бұрын
I'm thinking get the publishing rights, make a pilot, a film, get this back in the charts and relaunch an upgraded new series for a whole new generation to start dreaming - way ahead of it's time (Jonathan Creek fans). We are ready for something inscrutably English which only we can decifer and others watch in awe! Can you believe when supposedly tape was so expensive that they wiped the first two series when there is over a million episodes of COUNTDOWN still around to view????
