Interestingly, the Paris Tower (as it's called in that mission) is actually not the Eiffel Tower. If you compare the two, their designs are different. Particularly with the Paris Tower having 3 legs as opposed to the Eiffel Towers 4.

I love how the origins of the stingray wasnt a weapons projects or stuff like that, it was one dude who wanted to cook fish really quickly. One thing about the tesla troopers that wasnt mentioned that they are immune to attack dog and war bear attacks. The Shogun executioner, the gigantic mech, somehow healed itself with Tesla energy

Only the RA3 Tesla Troopers were immune to animals, the RA2 Tesla Troopers were just as vulnerable to dogs as most other infantry.

In RA2 I think it would have been better if instead of troopers charging coils it worked the other way around. That tesla troopers standing close to a tesla coil get a powerboost to about the power of the coil itself. Tesla troopers cost about half as much as tesla coils and they are mobile so you could use them to reinforce a vulnerable position at a cheaper cost. Of course they would keep their shorter range so they would be picked off but it would be a niche but occasionally useful thing to do.

You forgot to mention that in RA2/YR, if you can manage to put a Soviet Tesla Trooper into an Allied IFV, it turns into an impromptu tesla tank. Yuri also utilised this combination in the final Soviet mission against his Transylvanian fortress base.

Considering how Tesla was ahead of his time, it's a little surprising how Kane/Nod didn't try and improve the basic technology. It's also a bit surprising the Soviets never made a Tesla battleship.

Salt water is a better conductor than fresh water. It’s possible that a Tesla coil at sea was just not practical, that it would be diffused too much by sea spray and difficult to aim due to electrical properties of sea water.

Two Tesla Tanks appear during the final Imperial mission, after Zelinsky blows up the entire city as part of his last-ditch defense of the FutureTech headquarters. It's also worth mentioning that the Tesla Tanks in Red Alert 3 gain experience far faster than the usual unit, only requiring a few kills to reach Heroic rank.

@@louievelayo4100 This is exactly why. Veterancy experience is calculated from the cost of the units both doing the killing and being killed. Tesla Tank cost is zero, as it was never intended to be constructed.

In principle, not bad, but three things were missed: 1) If you put a Tesla Trooper in an IFV, then this vehicle will work like a slightly cheaper and more mobile version of the Tesla Tank. It seems like Yuri used this strategy in the last mission of the USSR campaign in the Yuri's Revenge add-on. 2) In Red Alert 2, Kirov Airships, being promoted to Elite, could drop Tesla bombs on enemies.

9:18 Correction: There's no difference in additional damage with extra Tesla Troopers. One: Boosted damage with power. Two: Regular damage and functions during low power. Four: Boosted damage and functions during low power.

one thing you didnt mention about the Shock Trooper in RA1 is that much like their evolution in RA2, they cannot be crushed by vehicles, which also gave any other infantry standing nearby them crush immunity by proxy as well due to game mechanic reasons :D

9:25 eh no. The tesla coil has 2 modes, overcharged and normal. One trooper added will switch to the overcharge mode which will add damage and range to the coil further troopers dont turn a tesla tower into the eiffel tower. 2 troopers will turn it on when its offline, I cant remember if they need a third to switch to overcharge once offline though. I think they do.

When I first saw the Tesla Trooper, I thought his armour would be impenetrable to dog attacks. Technically that should be the case since dogs can't really bite through steel and making contact with the suit would surely electrocute the dog, essentially making the Tesla Trooper anti-dog.

Yes, Shock Troopers are also immune to getting run over... At least the Tesla Trooper has a viable reason(heavy rubber and steel suit in 2, bulky (insulated)metal suit in 3), there is no explanation why the Shock Trooper can't get run over.

Iron Curtian is also Tesla Technology. They also had Submarine, Jet and Nuclear Technology, although it is odd they replace Migs with Airships in the 3rd war. The Allies in contrast, had satellite Technology and Chrono technology. Most of their advanced technology didn't appear until the 3rd Great War with prism and stealth. The 3rd Great War is the source of most of the exotic tech such as weather control and mond control. However that is split as there is the Einstine Time line (RA2) Cherdinko Time Line (RA3) and Fohen timeline (Mental Omega).

I think Mental Omega did its best to aknowledge missing technology like the Migs. Allieds occupied Soviet Russia and emposed drastic cuts. Russia lost its air force, for example. In one MO mission you actually raid an US air force base, get the blue prints of their fighter jets and later Soviet Russia actually gets Migs back.

5:17 I always assumed the stalhelms were used by the Soviets because the timeline merge. Whatever tech that wasn’t produce for the Wehrmacht/Reich was snatched up by the Soviets like the Mammoth tank (the Ratte), the V2 rocket project, U-boats, and any nuclear resources that the Red Army would have sought after following the fall of Berlin (uranium supplies that the Allieds manage to snatch up before the Reds could during the split between West/East Germany). The flamethrowers/towers even being what would have originally been part of the Panzer II (f) project.

The remastered Shock trooper image gives WW1 vibes, but WW2 was in the 50s, iirc. They should be wearing soviet-era uniforms like the original pic. I don't mind the weapon redesign though, you know immediately at a glance what it is. One thing that always bothered me about the technology was its use on Tanks, you know, big faraday cages on tracks. It should have been anti-infantry only and used turrets again vehicles.

The Tesla Tank from Red Alert 3 is an interesting case, being a campaign-only unit when it was a unique unit in Red Alert 2. My guess is the Tesla Tank was something Cherdenko personally commissioned, since he was one of the three who came from the original RA2 continuity. The Tesla Tank can only be built by the player if the player captured one of Cherdenko's War Factories during the 8th Soviet mission, "The Stone Faced Witnesses". The Tesla Tank replaces the Hammer Tank in the selection menu, and costs double the cost of the unit it replaced. The Tesla Tanks in the final Soviet mission, "Blight on the Big Apple" play a major role, but are not replaceable. As for why the Tesla Tank itself did not appear in multiplayer, I guess the Stingray more or less took over its role as a vehicle-based Tesla weapon platform, especially since the Stingray was amphibious, which made the Tesla Tank redundant.

When shock troops came out with aftermath they were very pricey but could not be run over and squashed by vehicles. Playing the legacy of tesla counterstrike mission it enabled you to build and use the radar jammer tesla tanks.

What a misleading. Time machine from Red Alert 3 uses 4 tesla coils to power themselves and create a unipolar magnetic field. It would be a fun trivia for that material about tesla coils

I think you missed Terror Drone from Red Alert 3, they seem to have some sort of lightning-based stun weapon, possibly off-shoot of Tesla technology used for Tesla Troopers (it's their stun effect, but ranged and for single target)

regarding the stalhelm, it could be the ssh36 which vaguely resemble the stalhelm. these were quickly decommisioned since it brought confusion and some cases of friendly fire due to the similiarities.

Also I would like a little correction... In Red Alert 2, we know it's the Soviets, but what the Allies are battling with is the World Socialist Alliance, Romanov's socialist version of the UN consisting of its prominent members: Russia(Tesla Tanks)(Funnily enough, despite its flag being the Scarlet Banner, it's *JUST* Russia. The other member states of the Union already split. They still colored red in the RA2 campaign loading map though.), Libya(Demolition Trucks), Iraq(Desolators), and Cuba(Terrorists)...

This to me could be what represents and may be an icon of the Red Alert universe. It also let me know of the name Tesla. Back then, I had thought that this is the name of it, not knowing it was the name of the famed Serbian inventor.

The Commander's Challenge missions are only available in the Uprising expansion for RA3. On the main menu it says "Challenge" right below the Campaign tab.
