Thanks, FAN issue fixed. I managed to get to the fan following the video. The problem was, after not using the laptop for a long time, when fan started working it was making a horrible noise. Turns out because of the this plastic case, the fans lid got pressed and as they were turning, the palettes touched the lid. I managed to removed only the lid without having to remove the whole fan, manually straightened the lid and voila, worked as a charm. No cooling paste was needed.

Thank you for uploading this How-FixIT, this video really helped make the process easier, hopefully one day most laptops will not be designed to make things this difficult to reach basic components for maintenance. -John Jr

Great strip down video, access to RAM, HDD, excellent. However, I was foiled by my keyboard, which refused to budge to access the hidden screws underneath and not brave enough to force it. Frustratedly had to hand the job of replacing a faulty power adaptor over to a "professional with liability insurance" costing me fifty quid. Close but no cigar, but I guess it is just as important to know when to give up before bending something permanently :/

I've seen many videos showing how to add arctic silver 5 thermal paste. Almost all of them warned us from appling heavy layer of it and they used something like credit card to make very thin layer on CPU & GPU to avoid affecting the processing speed. Here in your video you just added the thermal paste and re- assembed the device. Is it really important to make it so thin or not ?

A year has passed, but anyway, that means that the backlight doesn't properly work, maybe it broke or maybe a connector that powers it is not plugged. I had an ASUS TFT screen from the years that 16:10 aspect were king, and the backlight stopped working after I did 3 repairs on the damn caps, and I couldn't repair that. :(
