First of all:
I hate Touch-pads. Can't use them lol. Sorry for the slow navigation on the screen.
44 seconds to boot into Linux Mint, another 20-30 seconds until I can play a video in youtube.
That's 3-4 times as fast as with the original parts, where it took me 2-3 minutes just to load Linux.
Let's better not talk about Win10/11 or so.
Parts and what I upgraded
(new and from what I upgraded to):
Laptop: Acer Aspire 5750Z (from 2011)
CPU i7 2720qm (from Pentium B950)
RAM 2x4GB DDR-1600 (from 1x4GB DDR3 1033)
SSD Kingston 240GB (additional to the 500GB HDD, which now is in DVD caddy/slot
Cooler with 2 heatpiptes - for a different model with dedicated GPU, but I needed it for the better cooling (CPU 35W to 45W TDP)
Just tape the cooler block at the end so the copper won't touch the board.
Wifi-card some for me unknown card with bluetooth and 2.4/5ghz
Before around 20-30Mbit down / 10 Mbit up to 110 Mbit down and 60 Mbit up.
Keyboard (US layout) - old one had missing keys
Speaker (old one were broken)
Plus Battery 5200 mAh + Power Supply with 90w (4.37A) because of new CPU etc.
Price of all parts together was around 90-100 EUR / USD
Good enough for Remote and Office work :-)
