I will be upgrading the NVMe SSD & Memory on a brand new ACER Nitor 5 Gaming Laptop, followed by a clean install of Windows 10. 😎

@@TooFurious4 I didn't pay for the ram, and looking at the cost it would have been about $300 more. Either way it's my machine, and I'm happy with it and I'm happy with the service. I'm not exactly a die hard gamer, I play when I can, and this suits and fits my needs perfectly.

On a scald of 1-10, what would you rate the battery life on light, mediumand heavy usage?

@@slicedonions634 it's a gaming laptop, on heavy usage, you shouldn't expect the battery to last anymore than 30 minutes to an hour. Specially with triple A games

Excellent ! I am thinking of buying one of these and I have a1 TB Samsung M.2 SSD plus a Samsung SSD sata. Nice to know how easy it is to access everything and how easy it is to do. Unlike my wife's old Acer i3 which was a pain to disconnect the ribbon cables for the keyboard in order to get to upgrade anything. Great job here .... thanks a lot !

The inside of that Nitro 5 looks very similar to the Predator, 2 fans, 2 RAM slots, 2 NVME slots, a SATA blank, etc. Good work. Looks like a great laptop.

Honestly your a hero! I recently bought a samsung 980 pro 2tb with a big discount, thought it would be easy as put in in the machine en bam use it, boy was i wrong. It took hours of forums and such to still end up emty handed until your video came along with the disk management bit, followed your steps and now it works like a charm. So anyway huge thanks!

I have same computer with a i5 10300h and a rtx2060 6gb. Ram upgraded to 32gb 3200 and additional ssd nvme 2280 prior to the stock wd 512 installed. Runs like so good. And with a cooling base better too. Great afford. Oh and a Intel wifi ax210 new card installed

Sure would be nice if laptop manufacturers would start making their PC modular, so if you wanted to upgrade, just pop out the old part and insert the new one (sort of like the old hot swapping card readers, optical and hard drives).

Can you do a Clevo x170 Upgrade since it does have a lot of upgrades you can make, just don't know how to upgrade it and where to get the parts from such as the mxm graphics and the mobile cpu.

Can you please do an ssd with a heatskink and ddr5 upgrade, just curious to see whether u can upgrade ddr5 on a laptop since I am getting a 12th Gen laptop and want to upgrade from 16gb to 32gb(I am aware that u can't upgrade from ddr4 to ddr5 as they have difference sockets and pins to connect to.) I want to see at least if you can add a heatsink to a laptop or upgrade the ssd with the heatsink.

You should have left the included M.2 in drive one and put the new one in drive 2, im pretty sure it comes with a gen 4 M.2 so the M.2 your replacing it with cannot be noticeably faster hence just put the 1tb M.2 in drive 2 location and no reinstalling windows just initialize the drive.

Just so you know, yes you can do that, leave it as is. But he did say the new 1TB drive was faster so it was one additional way to boost the speed of the machine.

hello, can you tell me why you transferred the old ssd to another slot? I also installed a new ssd but a different slot. But for some reason, the old ssd heats up in games, + I had to turn off the turbo boost. the temperature rises to 50-60 degrees. Although the second ssd is always stable 32-42. Do you recommend I RAID 0 with the Samsung 990 PRO (1TB) to enhance my laptop's gaming experience? Or the Samsung 990 PRO would be an overkill?

Hi. The 990 Pro is a good choice. Your laptop is 12th gen intel, with pci-e 4.0, so in my opinion, the 990 pro is one of the fastest nvme ssd out there. Go for it. I have the same laptop but with the ryzen 4600h and 1650 gpu...ive been trying to add an m.2 ssd from my old laptop to it but it won't boot to windows even after reformatting the "new" ssd before installing...any tips? The bios recognizes the added ssd and the drive is good I had it in a portable enclosure and formatted it using the same laptop...it is a 1tb Toshiba ssd if it helps

Canned air with a tube on it is a good way. I do not know if there is an access to the fans from inside this computer. But you can certainly blow dirt, dust, hair, bugs, and the occasional finger from one exhaust port thru to the other.

When I put in the new tforce ram onto my acer the screen would stay black. I then took put the 2 16gb t force ram sticks and put my old 8gb in and then it worked just fine. Any sollutions?

Yep just chuck an extra one in and go into partition manager in Windows and change the unallocated storage to a simple volume :)

@William Young so I ended up getting this samsung upgrade a tforce for the ram and it works great now. Gets a little warm so have it on a cooling stand but other than that works like a champ.

You can only upgrade the CPU on Clevo machines, but they are waaay too expensive, and they are desktop replacement machines that are also really heavy.

Honestly, if you buy upgrade parts, you can make this thing a monster. When right out of the box, it is very good, but you will have to get games that can actually run on it, because the specs are very limited if you don’t upgrade. Overall, it’s amazing for the price point, and you will have fun with it, regardless of what you do with it!

Hi. It does not have pci-e 4 support. A gen 4 m.2 will work, but yes, it will run at gen 3 speeds.

Just upgraded to 16gb ram from 8gb ram and I am happy with it, but games now require more memory for the highest graphics settings which is what I am going for. I'm thinking about making it 32gb ram and making it happen tomorrow.

Ram is enough for 16gb .. the game time to time required more VRAM on GPU not RAM , so instead adding ram you should changing laptop , except your laptop can upgrade GPU which is impossible for now

Hello i know im late but yes you can have 2 different types of ram for example you can have a 16 gb ram and a 8 gb ram and also you can have one gb ram that its brand is samsung and the other one that is crucial

Yes, you can use an external monitor using HDMI port.

Hi. Any brand m.2 nvme ssd will work fine. Gen 3 or 4 will work.
