Famous singer/composer/teacher Acharya Jayanta Bose talks about music as a form of expression, the relationship between theatre and music through the use of sound dynamics and the need to break away from the stereotypical identities of the Classical singer and the audience. A theatre performance uses this sound dynamics, different modulations of voice to express certain emotions. Recitation also has many of the qualities of a performance. He explains why, unlike many Classical singers, he likes to recite portions of his songs and incorporate some qualities of both forms in his performances. He compares the versatility of the sound dynamics in Western Classical Music as against the inflexibility of Indian Classical Music in terms of accepting changes. Indian Classical singers refuse to go outside the traditional norms and the audience has become so accustomed to it that they would appreciate the performance just as a reflex action. According to him, both participants of Indian Classical Music i.e. the singer and the audience need to move away from the comfort zone of the familiar.

One of the finest anaytical assessment of music, musicians, empathy and posterity of them all..brilliant indepth views of his mindset. Music shall live forever shd every connoisseur and musician alike understand the depth of what is to be expressed to a certain logical end. Acharya Jayant Bose, one of the rarities and a multifarious talent ! What I like abt him most is his simple ways, puts it straight into the hearts of discerning, albeit I feel he's a lil complex for average minds ! but to his credit, has inspired millions, bcoz he's extremely gifted and a prodigy which everyone of us can't be ! Not humanly possible for every discerning to emulate him in toto but I like the way he's groomed so many young talented lot under his able & versatile tutelage..his daughter too is so well groomed. What finally touches one's benumbed veins is the simplicity 👍👍 🙏

Our ears have been trained to listen music which is at a constant level but variations that you bring with your music it is different. Soem times ear does not permit all shrutis still there is something which can't really explain. Only thing which I can say that I try to visualize sound variations in your music "emni kore akash mati te lutoi..." . My Pranam to you.

জয়ন্ত আমার খুবই আনন্দ হচ্ছে বলতে যে আমি তোর ছোটবেলায় বন্ধু রথীন্দ্রনাথ ভট্টাচার্য । তোর স্কুলের বন্ধুদের একজন। যদি আজ চিন্তে পারিস আনদ পাব। কারণ এ বয়সটা আর পাব না। আমার মনে আছে তোর সাথে শ্রী বা উত্তরা সিনেমার সামনে দেখা হওয়ার পর তুই আমাকে সেই ছোটবেলা বন্ধু হিসেবে চিনেছিলি। ওটা আমার মনে আছে। ভালো থাকিস। পারলে তোর ফোন নং দিস। কথা বললে ভালো লাগবে।

Dont agree sir with your views on classical music. Modulation of voice, expression, tempo, aesthetics. you name it and it is there. If some artists dont explore it then you cant blame the genre.
