I have tears in both ankles with surgical repair. My right one is tore again and orthopedic is afraid to do surgery again. This is from Cipro and Levaquin. I have been researching and looking for a doctor to help me. I am in extreme pain daily and extensive medical issues. It’s my brevis and longous tendons. The right one is so bad it now has the area of my Achilles swollen. I know your super busy due to the devastating hurricane and short staff right now. Hope to hear back

Can switching to Xero drop shoes cause Achilles tendon problems? Can prolotherapy strengthen the tendon to continue wearing the Xero drop shoes?

Hello again! 👋 I learn something on every video. So, sue me. 🤣 Let's say that someone starts walking for exercise and immediately develops 'shin splints'. After doing all the things, like stretching and walking on a variety of surfaces, they still have painful Achilles tendons. Would it be smart to consider possible tears especially if they know that they have ankle instability? 🤔

Hi Angela, Good question. Could be worth a look. Achilles tendon tears could be pretty quickly seen under ultrasound to see if that is the underlying issue, combined with ankle instability, or if the Achilles looks good and the problem is mostly in the ankles or shins. Our go-to is ultrasound for looking for/diagnosing tendon tears. As far as treatment, we've used Prolotherapy for shin splints, just like it is used for ankle instability and Achilles tendon tears, especially in our athletes who run and cut back and forth because those sports can be really hard on unstable joints- basketball, tennis, etc..
