I will also discuss why balancing your hormones is important, but why specific supplements for hormonal imbalance are a WASTE OF MONEY if you are still on hormonal birth control. The natural supplements for acne that I recommend in this video are supplements for women and men, and include vitamins for hormonal acne but also supplements for cystic acne.

Omg Madison you wouldn't know how thrilled I am to find your video. Two months ago I gave probiotics a go not for acne but for trichotillomania. I've been pulling my hair since young and recently came across how gut-brain connection may be linked to depression and OCD. There's not many treatments for trichotillomania and probiotics sound harmless so I was like "why not give it a go?". I started with BLACKMORES 20billion CFU/5 strains and decided to to how it goes during my holiday back in China. It's a 30-tablet bottle and I took one every day. I never thought it would actually help with my acnes at all!!! I just thought my skin got clearer for no reason! I've finished them like a month ago and the acnes on my chin stroke back...... I am definitely going to continue taking probiotics and see how it turns out. Btw if anyone is interested in the effort in treating trichotillomania too by any chance, I would say it seems helpful! Now I've ordered another 30 tablets from Life Space (32billions cfu and 15 strains) and can't wait to see if they are just placebo! Thank you for sharing!

Madison, thank you so much for such an educational and fundamentally informational video. My only question is…would your vitamin supplement recommendations be good for a 17 yr old girl that is struggling with medically diagnosed hormonal imbalance ? I would rather not put her on the “ Mini Pill” if not necessary. Her doctors however feel that the Pill may be an answer…. Confused to say the least. Tnx again, a concerned parent.

I had the same experience. I was on the pill specifically for acne... but I realised my anxiety levels were so much higher than the years before and I just felt "wrong". I stopped my pill and OMG I had the worst breakout of my life and the depression and panic attacks were awful for about 2 weeks. But after about 2 months things had settled and I will never go back in hormonal birth control. Ever. I tell everyone I meet unless you have to, don't do it. Using hormonal birth control when you can use SO many other methods is like chopping off your foot because a shoe doesn't fit. It's awful for your body in so many ways and just for convenience (in most cases).

Hi Lorraine! Probiotics definitely, as they would be very beneficial while you are on such strong drugs. As for the others, because I don't know your medical records and it would not be right for me to give you medical advice this is definitely something you should bring up with your doctor. Perhaps get a blood test so you know where your levels lie. Look closely at your zinc levels and if you are on accutane avoid anything with vitamin A in it as it may cause toxicity in your body :)

Idea to get some more fats in your diet is to make a smoothie with avo and nut butter in it. Maybe mixed with other ingredients that mask the nut taste, it'll tast good to you!

Yes! Such a good idea! I can’t imagine putting avo in there just yet but I do put chai seeds & flaxseeds in there occasionally! :)

Hi Madison! Thanks for the info. If you don't mind me asking what Vitamin A supplement do you take? How much Vitamin A is in the supplement you take? There's so much info online it's overwhelming.

Hi there! Thanks for this video! I do have a question though; I keep reading conflicting information, and can't seem to find a reliable source. I keep seeing that zinc does increase testosterone levels in women, which wouldn't that make acne worse? I'm just confused on this!

yes, i've seen that too, but i've been taking zinc for almost a year and it has helped significantly. I have high testosterone too.

it mainly helps regulate it. changing levels of test can be the cause of acne so zinc helps control it

Hey quick question. When you started probiotics and other supplements did your skin experience a purging period? I was already taking vitamin a and c, and started taking probiotics And fish oil, my skin started to break out a fair bit. Also stopped taking my vitamin D

Love love your videos. So question , i stopped taking vitamins couple yrs ago. And since then I think with stress, and lifestyle changes my acne has come back. After much consideration, I decided to go for a multi vitamin supplement . Previously I have taken omega 3, zinc, and probiotic and that did not completely cured my acne , it may have controlled a lit bit but not cured. So my question is should I try vitamin a and magnesium before trying the multi supplement Alive?
@MadisonDohnt
@MadisonDohnt 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! Yes well that is very possible as you may be nutrient deficient depending on what your diet looks like. You don't need supplements as it is always better to get your vitamins and minerals through diet but if that isn't sufficient then you will need supplements. I would go to your doctor and get a blood test so that you know specifically what vitamins you need rather than taking a broad multi. Remember low-normal can still indicate a low reading. If those supplements helped it but did not clear it completely then it probably means you have more than one root cause... have you seen my root cause video?

Great information! What is your take on iodine and whey protein’s association with adult acne?
@MadisonDohnt
@MadisonDohnt 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jessica! I haven't specifically looked into iodine myself but I know whey protein is dairy so for me personally I would stay away from it and stick to a plant protein as dairy causes me and a lot of other people to break out like crazy. I'm in the process of finding a good plant protein now, so stay tuned on my instagram :)

You need a probiotic with at least 10 strains ideally... 2 isn’t enough. And it’s very true that everything stems from the gut, nobody should take antibiotics for acne even though I know it can be tempting when you’re feeling down...the lasting effects are not worth it!
