at 9:57 if that spot wasn't a burn caused by some kind of external heat source, It could be due to a chemical reaction between two different types of plastic, one of which is the PC case, I have similar issue happened by an AV cable touching my pc case for a long period of time in a slightly warm unventilated place, Looking forward for the next part Thanks

Cable was a quick home made job I used to test my video out before I had a monitor - it may fall to bits if you open it 😂

For the battery compartment, if you can find a battery charge/boost unit that has it's "battery voltage" controlled by a single resistor, then it should be fairly easy to use a multi-throw switch to allow you to use whatever type of battery that you want, when you want.

Imagine what retro computing channels will look 50 years from now. People with home electronic microscopes, using nano robots for re-soldering and splicing silicon in chips. You're lucky to be able to do anything with your actual human thumbs.

🐨 That defect can be cheaply fixed by learning how to fix Textured Plastic, So I would suggest you do a KZfaq search on " How to fix textured plastic " and watch and learn how easy it is to repair and restore all kinds of plastics, Also note that there are Plastic/Acrylic Paints out there that can also repair any Retro-Brightening gone wrong, Mind you though... If you are somewhat of a perfectionist, you may find yourself investing in several colours in order to blend the perfect colour matching the plastic when it was first manufactured, usually a colour found within the insides..

@@TheRetroShack A shame, it was my first computer in '93, kept it well into my teens and my parents eventually donated it to a hospital in the end, no idea if it was just binned straight away but hopefully got some use. Good luck with getting it up and running.

RISC OS 2 was okay but 3.1 and 3.11 were vast improvements. The casing looks, as you point out, like original. The keyboard, however, is disgusting. I'm looking forward to the next exciting episode! Have a good break.

Great video, I particularly like the length of your videos. I'm still missing an Archimedes from my collection. What happened to that Amiga A1200?! It was difficult to guess from the first angle as the A600 and A1200 have the same port arrangement, but the giveaway was the square hole underneath. I might have a spare A1200 case buried in a dark cupboard corner, I will have to have a rummage to check on the condition as it's been a few years though. I was planning to cut a hole in one to add a laptop CD-ROM drive for CD32 emulation.
