Not all rooms sound great; we can help you create exactly the kind of listening space you want, no matter what size. Our team of world class acousticians and audio engineers have worked on just about everything: custom installations, home theaters, listening bars and lounges, private clubs and even large concert halls and recording studios. We even design and build several lines of acoustic treatments that can be tailored to your room, interior decor and listening preferences.
Our 1D Diffusor, freestanding panels can be placed in the middle of the room, while traditionally they’ve been mounted on the walls of recording studios. Because they diffuse the sound in 1 dimension - horizontal, they are referred to as 1D as opposed to 3D or quadratic diffusors. Placed behind our speakers they change the soundscape of the room, placed on walls they break up unwanted sound reflections.

Would probably work well in recording spaces as well. Gorgeous work!

You are partially correct - The distance to the backwall is not as critical as having the 1D (or any diffuser) at a distance away from the sweet spot to more uniformly diffuse the mid / high frequency range versus random frequency reflecting. That's the real benefit.

Can confirm 100% what's been said about these amazing room treatment devices. (Do have two similar 3d structured devices made from solid wood from a Berlin based company in operation).

Those look beautiful. Can you place them behind the speakers too when the speakers are only 6 feet from the back wall?

Fascinating Jonathan. Whilst you were explaining I kept looking at these as there was something familiar to me in my mind and then it came. I live in a tiny village close to Vienna called Kritzendorf which is right on The Donau (Danube). Very near to me is the Donau Schleuse Greifenstein this is a flood prevention and river control system which helps control the speed with which the Danube flows past Vienna and can help prevent flooding and it does so by crossing the entire river separating it into channels thus diffusing the flow making it more controllable and also having the ability to alter each channels speed. When I have stood on top of it at spring run off time from the Alps it is very easy to see its effect from uncontrolled up stream to much smoother and slower downstream. Looking at your design it strikes me that as the sound waves are channeling through these a similar effect occurs and the positioning of them is a bit like altering the sluices on each channel of the dam though instead of physical blocking with the gates the angles these are positioned do the same job, does that make sense or do I need psychiatric help! 🤓

Hello, could you have both absoption and diffusion if you filled the wells with an obsorption material?

There's an interesting product from Acoustic Fields that has low frequency absorption in the base of the diffusor along with Activated Carbon, which is a dense, highly porous material is probably the best for low frequency absorption stuffed in the wells. It's their QDA series Quadratic Diffusor Absorbers. The Diffusor handles the frequency range of the Prime Sequence chosen (the higher the Prime Sequence, the wider the frequency range of the diffusor, but the cabinet is also deeper as they go down in the lower frequency range, but they usually start in the 200hz and up to around 3,500Hz, , and then the absorption takes over the lower frequencies down to 30hz. With Diffusion and Absorption you need at least 50% surface coverage for the best results, But I would DEFINLTEY consult with someone that actually knows how to treat your room rather than just buying a product and sticking in the room. For diffusion to work best, you need to deal with absorption and getting the RT60 times in a certain range. Diffusion can be the best thing in the world, BUT, if the rest of the room's issues aren't dealt with first, they can be the worst thing in a room. Here's a link. www.acousticfields.com/shopping/ They offer a wide range of diffusors and their cabinets are built like fine furniture, they are heavy but they have casters. they have another product that's stackable so you can change from 1D to 2D called their Modular QDA series. www.acousticfields.com/product/qda-13-m-modular-diffuser-absorber/. you can stack them on top of a modular base unit that can absorb in the 30hz to 50hz range, called modular base ACDA 12. www.acousticfields.com/product/acda-12-m-modular-bass-absorber/ Their modular units are great because you can choose from a variety of modules for different functions to create a room within a room, and since they are relatively small, they are stackable and you can more easily transport them should you move to another location. FYI, I do NOT work for Acoustic Fields. I just have met, talked to, and have visited several rooms with their treatment to get first hand experience with their treatment. Flat out, they have done their homework and I've never been in a better sounding room than theirs. Their low frequency products are hands down the best on the market, their open cell foam performs exactly how mid to high frequency absorption SHOULD work. Their products are made well and they have a process they use to figure out what you need and they take a lot ore into consideration before they recommend which product(s) to use. They also sell build plans so if you have the equipment to make your own, they also cater to the DIY crowd, which most companies do not.

Horizontal is not 1D, it is 2D. One dimension is a line.
